He is as crooked as they come...The investigation is great news!!
How has he accumulated so much and is Arizona so corrupt they have let him get away with this for so long?

I would not put much stock in what Ibarrio is saying - he clearly hates Sheriff Arpaio and will tell you all sorts of lies -

Arpaio spent many years with the Drug Enforcement Agency - and not at a cushy desk job - literally in the jungles of South America. He earned his paycheck - and his retirement from the Federal Government.

He ran for office on a law enforcement background - and obviously won. The fact he was the FIRST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY in the Country to avail themselves of the offer from the Feds to allow local law enforcement to be federally sworn officers - to allow them to enforce immigration laws, has totally PO'd some - like Ibarrio.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's office has, to date, detained and turned over to ICE, over 11,000 illegal immigrants - and not just those from Mexico either. From over 20 different countries.

Does Joe own several pieces of real estate (besides his home)? Sure. How many others also do the same? Ibarrio forgets that Joes wife also is employed and has a good income.

I pass by the area where the Sheriff lives almost every day. On more than one occasion, I have seen him stopped helping someone - one time, changing a tire for a driver - while in his uniform.

Joe does not run a Club Med (his jails). The inmates sleep in better conditions than do our troops in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Again - there is another side to this story besides Ibarrio

I do know a bit about him and remember I lived in your country for nearly 20 years most of it in the state next to yours. I'm familiar with his zero tolerance, but I had no idea he was DEA and in of all places the jungles of South America.....that alone sends bells ringing. I respect a tough law man, but I've been around enough cops to know that many of them are borderline sadists and control freaks with mental issues. Joe issues are serious ones. The whole thing about making men wear pink udearwear is a dead give away, I guess it's the closest he can get to without whipping them - something that would definately draw attention from human rights organization.

And what is wrong with breaking the pride of a criminal? Many of them are indeed sadists and deserve what they get.

AND, he has chain gangs too! OBTW, inmates clamor to get on the chain gangs.

The Pink underwear has been "picked up" by numerous law enforcement agencies across the country. Wearing pink underwear is NOT a human rights violation.

This "sadist" also started the first of its kind program in the US - taking in abused and neglected animals and letting inmates care for them and bring them back to health. The inmates get trained in doing this type of care - the animals are put up for adoption when they have recovered with the monies going to programs to stop animal abuse. Some sadist, 'eh?

Oh yeah - he also has a "VACANCY" sign out in front of the main jail - that's probably bad too - LOL

Look - He runs a tough jail - no coffee, no smoking, must learn some English, no TV except for C-Span, no Porno mags in the jails.

He has been "investigated" numerous times - and the one area that he gets "dinged" for is the health care - yet, the people that make the money available for Health care in the Jails, the Board of Supervisors, won't give Joe the Money to update the infirmary and other areas.

Joe is a good Law Man. And, the people of Arizona recognize it. And, appreciate it.

1. Joe is the king of launching investigations into anyone who speaks out against him.

2. The Administration at the top has changed and now we have people in power that are not afraid of old Joe.

I don't care how much property he owns or how much money he makes because he is getting the job done.

I hope he continues to uphold the law against the illegal alien scum.

I never said wearing pink under wear was a violation of civil rights, I said things like that and the chain gang was as far as he could go, without having them whipped. Listen Joe might have a soft spot for animals, but hey even Hitler had a soft spot I'm sure and as an animal lover and a person owned by 5 dogs, I think it's commendable as well as a great learning tool and healer for some of the inmates. He also didn't pioneer the concept of inmates looking after animals. It's practised in other jails and prisons across America. I don't drink coffee or smoke so I don't think inmates miss out too much. Most jails in the US don't allow porn anyway and the prisons that allowed inmates to receive them I hear no longer do, but it still gets in.

Sure he has a Vacancy sign outside, but what does that tell you? He's a show man it's what people like those in Arizona who vote for him like - a folk hero, just like Jessie James or Davy Crockett.

***Also had to add that even Jean Harris who was accused of killing Tarnower, the Scarsdale diet originator was behind the push and I guess was responsible for starting a programme at a Prison in New York where inmates babies could spend the first year of their life with their mothers.
