There are plenty of reasons why the economy has taken a serious downturn, but one of the reasons you never hear about is the economy and the huge influx of immigrants that pour into this nation every year. Every year thousands of jobs either dissappear entirely, or are exported to the Third World. The only jobs are economy needs are those requiring specialized skill with extensive college or several years at a trade school; nonskill labor jobs are becoming fewer and fewer, with less pay comparatively with the cost of living.

How can we have a thriving economy when we do not even create enough jobs for the people that are already here; never mind the new immigrants that come here thinking this is the "land of plenty." If you look at statistics on immigration and job creation, we do not create anywhere near enough jobs to satisfy demand.

While I also blame the cost of two wars and the incompetency of Bush Administration, as well as various corporate masters, wall street crooks, and politicians on both sides of the aisle, illegal immigration continues to play a very large part in the financial drain and social demise of this country. Those who deny it or would like to pretend otherwise do so strictly because they are illegal aliens or have friends and family members that are illegal aliens. Sorry the one but "that dog don't hunt."

Well, duh! 1979 just has an anti-immigrant agenda and is blaming this economic downturn on it, even though all the evidence points towards wasteful government spending in Iraq and against terror and drugs and the corruption on Wall Street that went unchecked.

But these rabid anti-mexicans will tell you otherwise!

Outsourcing and immigration are opposite problems...in fact, with more illegals and less regulations in hiring them, we'd have very little need for outsourcing. The whole purpose of outsourcing is to find cheap labor because American labor is too expensive.

Which I bolded I tend to agree with-----------witness what is happening to the bloated Yuppie class. I am not referring to MD's, CPA's, etc but more the the Wall Street types.

Remember of you can telecommute---------your job can be replaced by some person in India, etc.

No! Your insinuating that outsourced labor is unskilled! There is plenty of white collar work, and other highly skilled labor being outsourced. And it is not that American labor is too expensive, it is because American companies are extremely greedy. Much of the work outsourced could not be done by illegals, particularly with no education, that you can't understand, or don't speak English at all.

Regardless, of whether outsourcing has any fault, if our country is not producing jobs, we should not allow mass immigration...legal or otherwise.

Agreed. Nothing is more annoying than calling customer service and someone seated in a call center somewhere in mid evil hell is cluelessly practicing his or her version of a long distance American.

Well stated and great post.

sorry to ruin your fantasy. im not illegal. neither is my family.
and i dont worry about my friends citizenship. they are all vibrant, productive, positive contributors to this society.

i agree that immigration taxes some. but is it a large part of our economic woes... not in the least.

i think mass deportation, especially in places like LA or CA/TX/AZ/NY/etc etc etc, would produce an even more dire economic picture. it is not economically feasible. its ludicrous. that would cripple us even more.

Don't flatter yourself. You nor any of your family members, friends, acquaintances or associates would be my idea of a fantasy.

That being said, if "allegedly" none of your family members are illegal aliens and you don't worry about the status of your friends, why do you support illegal aliens and amnesty?

As for your being in agreement that ILLEGAL immigration taxes "some" but is not a large part of of our financial/economical demise, how many more billions of tax payers dollars being squandered on millions of illegal aliens would it take to convince you? Did you even bother to click on the link I provided?

As for delusions with regard to California: the fact that millions of illegal aliens breed there, live there on welfare, receive food stamps, free breakfast, lunch, ESL and education for their children, gang bang and are jailed there, pay no taxes, use and close down emergency rooms because they don't pay for healthcare and played a major part in Cali being bankrupted to hell, you've got to be kidding.
