I think he is absolutely right. By insisting people use the language of their new 'motherland' as he put it, he is giving them the ability to advance in their new society. By coddling them he is right to fear generations of non English speaking citizens, who would be consigned to a marginalized existence.

What a self-important jerk....who the HELL does he think he is, anyway?....trying to make sure that people in England do business in English?...what's next? He'll probably expect people in Italy to speak Italian..or people in Japan to do business in Japanese.

Jerk!..Racist!...Xenophobe!....do we really NEED his type, anyway?....

Is there a Sri Lankan equivalent to La Raza in England?

I bet it would call Mr. Kumarasiri a "sellout" to his race. And they call us anti-illegals racists .

‘Because of that, I decided I could no longer work in this area. I told my bosses and they have transferred me to another post office.’ With tensions running high, his bosses have banned the father of two from revealing his new location for fear of reprisals.

But last night Mr Kumarasiri pledged to stick with his controversial ban on non-English speakers at the new branch.
He said: ‘I will continue with my policy and try to do what is best for the people of Nottingham.
‘I’m not backing down. It’s only a few people who have forced me out. It’s the owner of the shop and some of the Muslim community. It’s not the people out there – they support me. Mr Raja didn’t like my policy and said I lost him a lot of trade, but I only banned five people.
Good for Mr. Kumarasiri for sticking to his principals and beliefs.

Thanks for the followup story LIM
