Mexican drug cartels, believed to be operating in more than 230 American cities "from Appalachia to Alaska," represent a "clear and present" danger to the United States, Lieberman said at a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing on border violence.
*************************

Lieberman, who chairs the committee, called for an additional $250 million to be used for the hiring of 1,600 additional customs and border protection officers. He said that another $50 million should be allocated to immigration and customs agents investigating firearms distribution and violence near the border.

Senators: Obama border initiative good step, but insufficient - CNN.com

While the mexican government is screaming about guns coming into mexico via the US, why is the fact that illegal alien mexican gangs and drug cartels that have invaded America are the primary source of those guns?

If Lieberman is calling for more border enforcement it must be really bad.

It's like I said when I first joined this forum back in August...It will take a war to get our government's attention. Democrats and Republicans need to put their issues aside and unite to protect our citizens from these cartels coming in from Mexico! As far as the guns...Criminals will ALWAYS find a way to get their guns. Don't blame the USA for that! Shut down the border and hunt down the illegals on our side of the fence and the threat will be eliminated.

Agreed. Had they deported or forced everyone caught here illegally to self deport effective 9.12.2001, we would have finally gotten mexico out of our pockets and it's illegal alien nationals out of our country. They would have been forced to deal with their own problems or cease to exist.

Yet here we are almost 8 years after 9-11 and we now have terrorist here en masse from mexico.

Sad but true. I knew that we the American People would put the issues and inconveniences of 9-11 on the back burner to "return to our old way of life." We as a nation have blown our chance to easily resolve this issue, and now will have to pay a wicked price. Until the US citizens put their countrymen in front of themselves to resolve our issues, we're screwed. It;s no wonder that the illegals can easily find employment here. As long as we have those fancy gadgets we want cheaply, who cares, right?
