We have a big sales tax increase tomorrow, in order to compensate for our policy of rewarding illegal aliens for having anchor babies. After decades of public school funding for the scions of parents who do not pay nearly enough into the tax base to fund K-12 education for little Pedro, Maria, etc., health care for little Pedro, Maria, etc. as well as their parents, and so on, CA is now going to further punish its taxpayers, who don't want illegals here in the first place. Tomorrow, April 1st, CA will have the highest sales tax in the U.S.
Don't let this happen to your state. Read our lips: No more illegals!
It's only going to encourage me to buy even more from online stores based outside of California.
I hate sales taxes. They're the most regressive taxes that we've got. It's outrageous that the sales tax in some areas of L.A. County will now be over 10%.

I hear you but it is really our legislators fault for spending without a limit and they have been doing so for years.
and how much of the budget is because illegal aliens and their anchor babies are here instead of the country they came from.
I personally dont care if illegals have children in the USA or not, but they should not get american citizenship until they are 18. that way the USA does not get stuck with the mother and father who are both criminal aliens.
What a shame this is! Take away the citizenship of anchor babies! However, I lived in Canada for 6 months and a 10% sales tax would be less. Up there it is 12 or 13%
as did the smaller cities and communities whoes taxes are about 10.5% (which is still not the highest in the country, cities in AK have that title)
the money will go to road and transportation improvements (and other stuff).
but really lets not forget that CA and the LA area are still major destinations for the worlds citizens, legal or otherwise. our roads get worn down. our systems outdated. and we are not the only ones facing a budget deficit, even states with very few "illegals" face budget deficits. who they choose to remedy that is up to them.
there are myriad reasons for this tax hike. tryin to put the blame solely on "illegals" is too basic.
