Uhmmm we have had a poster or two on here who claim that illegals pose no threat of such diseases. The Damned CDC and ICE trying to make law abiding illegals look bad again.

Notice that is "active or suspected"...

CDC - Tuberculosis (TB)

A total of 11, 182 TB cases (a rate of 3.6 cases per 100,000 persons) were reported in the United States in 2010. Both the number of TB cases reported and the case rate decreased; this represents a 3.1% and 3.8% decline, respectively, compared to 2009. The number of reported TB cases in 2010 was the lowest recorded since national reporting began in 1953.

All applicants for immigrant visas to the United States are required to undergo a TB screening. There's a reason for that.

These illegals make me sick. They AND their deadly communicable diseases need to stay where they belong: in their own countries.

Yes, but that means something makes them suspect for the disease.

There can be a reaction to the TB skin test, when a further chest x-ray will show it was a false-positive. A detention center may just rely on the results of less-expensive skin test, without doing an x-ray. After all, their detainees have nothing but time on their hands.

Did you look at the CDC information, where the foreign-born are more at risk for TB, but the incidences are less for Hispanics than Pacific Islanders, Asians, and Blacks?...

You can't help but wonder how many millions of them came here with TB or other diseases that had long been erradicated in this country. Yes, sirreee open borders is the answer. Let's roll out that welcome mat for all that poverty and those formerly erradicated diseases. We don't need to enforce those silly immigration laws.

They are still at risk. Wouldn't you agree?

In the total picture, this isn't an illegal immigration topic. As I've stated before, bringing up TB, polio, or whichever other communicable disease as related to only illegal immigrants can be reduced to a defined unscientific bias. The CDC response is enough for me, I don't believe "Morgellons" or any of the other false data Dr. William Campbell Douglass II is putting out.
