Notice that, once a Phillipino migrant is placed in charge of the nursing staff, all the African-American nurses seem to disappear...why is that exactly?

Much as I hate to say this: racism may be a factor. Along with Filipinos, etc. 'taking care of their own'---------which has nothing to do with race.

There is relatively little prejudice against Filipinas here in the USA-----------due in large part to most of 'em being physically small English speaking Asians---------never mind their usually Hispanic names.

Although; it would not surprise me to see something similar happen to American Black nurses if the HR person were a Jamaican or even a Black from Africa.

In the above scenario: racism would not apply but, cultural differences definitely would.

About two years ago, I was shocked to finally see a white Director of Nurses hired. Shortly after, I've never seen so many white and black nurses being hired, for a welcome change. The Philipino's became a minority for that period of time.

So along comes a Philipino Director of Nurses, and now we're back to more and more Philipino Nurses.

We haven't yet had a Black Director of Nurses. Now that would certainly be very, very interesting to see what would develop. Or an Hispanic Director.
Maybe even more interesting.

Legal immigration, Illlegal immigration. To me, they're fraternal twins. We need to fight them both.

We hire more legal immigrants, because employers know they'll work harder and for less pay with no complaints, all to increase their bottom lines on the backs of the Natives of this country.

I'd guess that a Black director would hire a balanced mix of ethnicities, whilst an "Hispanic" would hire exclusively members of La Raza.
