Obama may find the toughest program to cut is the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program, which gives money to states to help defray the cost of incarcerating illegal immigrants who commit crimes. The $400 million program is one of the largest non-defense discretionary spending item to be cut under Obama's proposal.

Former President Bush tried in vain to kill the program several times, facing opposition from, among others, Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton -- who, as senators, tried to secure additional funding for the program -- and Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, who was Arizona governor at the time.

You too? We'll have to maintain a flow chart to keep up-to-date.

That makes 3 of us. Seriously, I think the economy is a lot worse than originally suspected, and the formerly employed American sheeple have joined the ranks of those of us who were once considered racists, nativists and alarmists. Trust me, the politicians are hearing the mantra of no amnesty from their constituency early and often these days.

Maobama must be watched like a hawk as his natural instinctive tendencies are to alway veer sharply to the left. Luckily for America Maobama's handlers aren't letting Maobama pull a lot of far left nonsense.....yet. But for now just expect Maobama to veer slightly left, whenever he can.

I am afraid you are indeed correct.

No link handy; but, a couple of months ago the actual unemployment rate was closer to 15-16%---------although, the underemployed* were factored into equation.

*even with that cohort not counted---------I still suspect our true unemployment rate is ca. 12-14%.

I'm generally glad to hear about Obama wanting to cut spending, but this program needs to stay. Without a doubt.

As other posters have mentioned, I think it's strange how much Obama keeps going back and forth on the issue of criminal aliens.

Do you consider cutting 1% out of Obama's budget which is 4 times the previous record budget is actually cutting spending? Is anyone who voted for Obama happy about Obama's massive 4 times the previous record budget? If you voted for Obama and you're just waiting for the liberal media to hold Obama's feet to the fire for his massive 4 times the previous record budget?
