We all know that.
No, their rip-off of choice is to strain local social services like food stamps and medicaid.

So wouldn't you agree that the state governments need to crack down on abusers of the welfare system? The system as a whole is abused by far too many people, most being our own citizens. This industry needs more regulation, the problem is they keep throwing money at the problem.

the states must stand up and defend themselves, the federal government simply refuses to do its basic functions.

I would agree completely.

I agree Huck, it seems these days all the federal government wants to do is make taxing laws and donate money to unworthy groups.
(I know I'm off topic here)The last trick is to (congress) decide to bail out big business then vilify them to make new taxing laws. Now we have American citizens being killed, robbed and/or beaten by illegal aliens of this country and the only thing the fed government (and people to bored to do anything productive) does is criticize the one state that finally starts to defend its citizens.
Its not about a Mexican immigrant, itís about illegal immigrants! Itís about giving our American citizens their right to freedom. Itís not about giving an illegal citizen our Constitutional rights, if they want that then do it the "LEGAL" way and become a citizen. Our governmentís lack of fulfilling its obligation to protect its people is causing the formation of hate groups. Legally rein in this law breaking problem and the hate groups go away.

what i find so offensive about our government is that they SIDE with illegal immigrants over our own citizens! they know that illegal immigrants are flooding the country and hurting americans trying to work.

At this point it is worth noting that the Hew Hispanic Center uses rather conservative numbers, as does the Census Bureau. There are strong indications that the numbers are actually far higher. The Wall Street investment firm Bear Stearns published a report, The Underground Labor Force is Rising to the Surface, in January 2005 which claims that the illegal alien population is double the official government estimates and was closer to 20 million, at that time. here is that report from 2005, and you can imagine how much worse things have become since then:

http://www.bearstearns.com/bscportal/pdfs/underground.pdf (broken link)

if you take at least 20 million jobs away from american workers (and legal citizens) you do HUGE damage to your economy. not only that, but our government is kicking the highest tier unemployed off of unemployment, so these people are really going to be hurting -and the government STILL refuses to control illegal immigration.

add to that the danger that open borders presents when you are overseas fighting wars on several fronts. our government allowed the NY city bomber citizenship in 2009-how much investigation could they have done before granting him citizenship? open borders endanger american citizens, especially when you are bombing things with drones overseas. evidently it is only natural to object to being invaded, unless you are the united states government.

the people are saying to the government "we have a problem" and the government is basically saying, "no, we don't".

The government doesn't say anything. I watched "The Grand Bargain" showing how our government decides on issues in this country. This was a bill trying to be passed on illegal immigration. It's pretty much a pay off system. We'll do this if you give us that. This is how you suddenly see unrelated bills slipped into a passing of another. They really do not care. It is all a game to them as they sit on their high hills counting their money and egoed accomplishments. They do not hear the people, only their money interest groups. Until their is a major revolution in this country, they will continue to turn a deaf ear and bling eye.

I have more faith in the smaller governments so will continue to sign the petitions of local representatives.

How do you figure?

I know someone whose Social Security number was being used by a LARGE number of illegal aliens. Sixty three of them in fact.

Before she finally figured out what was going on, the IRS was hounding her for back taxes on several of the incomes and was threatening a lien on her bank account until the rocket scientists figured out that it would have been impossible for her to be hundreds of miles apart, working different jobs at the same time.

She's been continually harassed by credit card companies for cards opened with her number which have gone into default.

The government refused to pursue the culprits--but they finally did something about it.

They let the 63 illegal aliens keep her Social Security number, gratis and with no repercussions and issued her a new one, something that generally only happens when a person goes into Witness Protection and has to be relocated for their own safety.

Gee....what's the harm in all of that?

It is usually easier to prove you weren't in the same sector as an illegal.
