The pair was part of an adult education program, and a routine background check showed they had an outstanding immigration order against them.

White House spokesman Nick Shapiro says they were taken into custody Thursday morning before they entered the compound.

All White House visitors are required to undergo a U.S. Secret Service background check. Shapiro says agents discovered the problems and informed immigration officials, according to protocol.

i wonder if it was an expired visa or someother technicality.

i dont think anyone with legal problems would put themselves in such a situation.

But Obama is in favor of education and benefits for illegals. Why wouldn't they be invited to go on all the field trips too??? After all, Obama isn't in the business of going after illegals. I'm sure they didn't think being here illegally would be a problem now.

They had to know you can’t just walk into the White House without being scrutinized. Otherwise, terrorists would have a field day. Several years ago, I accompanied my son’s 6th grade class to the White House and to Bolling AFB where they maintain their fleet of customized Cadillacs. Although one of the mothers was a member of the Secret Service, our group still had to be investigated, and we had to show ID before gaining access.

Imagine some American illegally in some foreign country believing they had a right to traipse around government buildings in that country.

These people somehow have come to believe that the USA really has no laws.
