The family of slain high school football star Jamiel Shaw II is suing the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, alleging that the department was negligent in releasing Shaw's suspected killer from prison despite his illegal-immigrant status.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, names Sheriff Lee Baca as a defendant and alleges that he "knew or should have known that they were releasing a convicted felon and illegal alien with an extensive history of gang violence into the Los Angeles community to perpetrate killings against African Americans."
Slain football star's family sues Sheriff's Department - Los Angeles Times

Let's all hope that the Shaw family, as well as the Bologna family in San Francisco, win these lawsuits so that justice will actually prevail over the corrupt, law-breaking and murderous police departments of Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Good for them..........

I have a feeling this will be the first of many law suites in regard to illegal immigrants and crime against American Citizens.

I support the lawsuit but the family did not have to turn this into a race issue. Illegal alien harm all Americans not just Black Americans.

Good, I hope that they not only win but that this case will force the media to look at the illegal issue without their usual 'hard working/tearing families apart' bias.

Let them try.

If our unemployment rates increases much more---------there will be hell to pay.

As it is: prejudice is growing against 'brown' American Hispanics (and any other folks who look the part) as a group courtesy of the (mostly) Mestizo illegal aliens. Thank you, you la raza traitors for selling out your fellow Americans by aiding/abetting said criminals. Job well done.

well i agree that the policies and procedures should be different than they are now, but suing the LASD only takes care of half the problem. what are they suing for anyways?

the larger problem is that unlike certain jurisdications in OC, the LASD does not have the specialist who deal with immigration enforcement. (they might now, i htink its a pilot program tho).

all they do is ask an inmate what their citizenship is. this guy (the killer) had been here for years. spoke perfect, albeit urban, english. when asked, he said he was a citizen. no more questions asked.

this should change. i have said it many times before. there should be a thorough review of these guys being let out on the streets. i also think they should test them for HIV and other STD's.

it is sad that they made it into a race thing tho. it was an 18th street versus a blood or crip thing (whatever color jamal was wearing).

unfortunately he was seen on the street by these thugs, he was wearing the wrong color and they asked that all too common question that has no right answer

"where you from?"

sad story all around. but are they suing for changes or for money?

CORRECTION: they do ask citizenship now. but how exactly, i dont know

Default Changes?

As long as Antonio "Viva La Raza!" Villaraigosa is in charge,do we really expect any policy changes to take place?
