Maybe you can go to Haiti and try to help them build a modern society then. Chances are you wouldn't survive your first week there. You would be killed.
The Haitians want the same treatment as the Cubans coming from Cuba. Makes sense to me.

Didn't anybody ever tell you that "We" set up those corrupt governments in Haiti?

Are you serious? You really don't understand that all that "foreign aid" is really just to try to buy political support from other countries?

You pay for it whether you like it or not. Contact Lincoln Diaz-Balart's office for help.

The worst part is the employers in S. Florida cannot hire these people fast enough. Go into any Publix, retail stores, restaurants, and most banks and you will see many Haitians working there. I know they work cheap but c'mon. Many have such bad accents that you cannot even understand them and they are working with the public. What kind of message is this sending. You may as well just post a banner in Haiti with directions to Florida and a guaranteed job.
Sounds like Florida is becoming to Haitians what California has become to Illegal Aliens from Mexico..

Yes, there are 2 billion impoverished people in the world. Let's bring them all into the USA so we can feed and clothe them all and provide them all free health care and cable television.

Yes, that's the answer. Bring all the poor people of the world into the USA.

Yet -- there are small island nations that are doing quite well. Barbados, Jamaica for example. What's the difference?

Excellent point.

Bermuda's per capita income is greater than the USA.

So racism against Blacks is not the main cause of Haiti's failure as a society.

I agree. The best thing for the U.S. and all American citizens would be for us to open all our borders and welcome with open arms every uneducated impoverished, disease-ridden person around the world who wants to come here. Then, even better for the U.S., and especially American citizens, would be to give all these wonderful, blessed newcomers as many freebies as we can. Lets build 'em houses, and give 'em free educations, and health care, and food. And lets encourage them to have as many children as they want.

Yeah...that's the ticket. That's what America needs

Of course it makes sense to you. You don't live here. You don't pay property taxes out the wazoo to support illegal immigrant children at school. YOU'RE neighborhood hasn't been fundamentally changed from quaint retirement village to breeding ground for Haitian gangs wherein the crime and murder rate has skyrocketed the past ten years. Makes sense to you because you don't have to drive on the road, have your insurance rates go up because such a large percentage of them don't have car insurance.... oh yeah, they're also famous for suing at the drop of a dime for any accident to collect personal injury protection benefits.

Makes sense to you, because it doesn't effect you.

Ah yes. Haiti would be a PARADISE if it weren't for the USA! An uncorrupt paradise.

Anybody ever tell you it's a helluva lot closer to get to any of dozens of other countries, islands, etc. than to cram into a broke down boat and head to the US... (Heck, Haiti shares and island with the Dominican Republic, and the DR has stricter rules than the US!)

One reason: Les Benefits!

That's exactly the reason, the US rolls out the red carpet for anyone who can slither, sneak, fly, roll, swim or shoot out of a circus cannon to get here.

Barbados seems like a pretty good place -- high income, high literacy rates.

There are reasons some countries do much better than others. It seems that Haitians ought to look for some examples on how they can improve. Just having babies right and left and trying to get to the USA isn't the best way.
