I'm going to go out on a limb here.
A. Americans are to lazy to do these jobs?

B. No Americans have these skills?

C. Greedy employers don't want to pay qualified Americans the going rate?
I am pretty sure the answer is C

The root of the problem is money, mechanics say. A certified mechanic can earn upwards of $25 an hour in Texas. Technicians who can't speak English are often hired for less than $10, according to mechanics interviewed by News 8.

Same under-cutting cr^p we see in a lot of industries. Pro-Illegals don't care if these jobs are 2 bucks an hour so long as their relatives or people of their "culture" get them.

Doesn't that just make one feel safe about flying? I also wonder how long it will be until they discover drugs planted in the engines of one of these planes?

Makesme want to punish these greedy employers. Lets hire illegals to pack some parachutes. Throw these employers out of a plane wearing these chutes.

Yes -- it's time for the government to go after these greedy employers. Heavy fines and prison time.

In a way you can't blame the illegal who is being offered what sounds like excellent pay to come here and take these jobs. Back in their own countries, our minimum wage or even $3.00 - $4.00 an hour sounds like great money but no one can support a family here on that kind of income.

That creates a huge problem, another certified mechanic told News 8. "I need an interpreter to talk to these people," he said. "They can't read the manuals, they can't write, and I have so many working for me I can't be sure of the work they've done."
This really boils my blood. These greedy employers donít even care if they are risking lives, as long as they can make a profit from cheap labor. All aircraft mechanics should be certified, and English proficiency should be a requirement. This is insane.

All "real" airframe and power mechanics are certified; it is a VERY important job. Part of that certification process means that they need to be able to read the very detailed maintenance manuals. The employers are just bypassing all of that to get cheap labor. They NEED to go to jail.
