Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Thursday introduced a bill that would grant amnesty to up to 1.35 million farmworkers who are working in the country illegally, many of them in California.

Nicknamed the AgJobs Bill, the measure has been proposed multiple times this decade, without success, by Feinstein and other legislators. Some supporters are hoping it might fare better under the Obama administration.
California's labor-intensive agriculture industry and worker advocates, such as the United Farm Workers of America, have long pushed for the reform measure.

"Bringing the number of to 2 Million People?" Huh more like 12 MILLION especially since this would grant Amnesty to their FAMILY members as well..

I was watching a segment about this on my local news last week and watched Feinstein give an address before the Senate about how "crops will die and people will go hungry" and "farmers will lose their livelihoods" IF this bill is not passed..

Here's ANOTHER article VIA FOX NEWS: Apparently, LARRY CRAIG (R) was a co-sponsor of this bill.. Wow! He took time out from his busy public restroom "gay cruising" scheduling to join forces with Feinstein.. It seems that when one sees a "bipartisan bill" it means that American taxpayers are gonna get screwed!

Numbers USA (an anti illegal immigration think tank) has stated that the bill being discussed would allow these illegal aliens to do other jobs other than agriculture and will be exploited.

Once legal citizens, why work when you can go straight on welfare and food stamps. Illegals work because they have to work.

Very true. But add to this they have not earned a path to citizenship. In fact by cheating the system they have only earned a ban from gaining citizenship.

Yes, the same way they now exploit the H-1B Visa. They are using these visas to employ custodial staff, and other menial positions. I guess we are sorely lacking ‘expertise’ in the floor sweeping profession.

im sure there are some US teens willing to do the summer work...

or are these some of the jobs "we wont do"

it does strike me as convenient that farms and ag businesses dont get raided as much as factories. i dont think they are doing immigraion sweeps in the fields.

they know that even illegals hate doing those jobs.

those other cushy, food processing, tech manufacturing, etc etc jobs, ya we want those for sure. aint no body want to work in the field.

i am a bit torn. i would say dont legalize the workers and just fill any vacancies with other people. but i dont see that happening...

hmmmm jury is still out.
