The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday voted to accept $1.6 million from the state to help pay for illegal-immigration enforcement by Sheriff Joe Arpaio. The money will supplement the enforcement through an agreement with the state Department of Public Safety. The vote was controversial because of the sheriff's adversarial relationship with the board, budget fights and investigations.

$1.6 mil OK'd for Arpaio's illegal-immigrant program

Go Joe, Go

Meanwhile, another report critical of Joe Arpaio is released by the conservative think-tank "Goldwater institute" today:

"The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office clears too many cases without arrest"
"The conservative think-tank used the 2001 case of a 14-year-old girl whose allegations of sexual assault weren't thoroughly investigated to highlight the "serious malfeasance" in the Sheriff's Office, but the issue could apply to any agency in the state, said Clint Bolick, director of the Goldwater Institute's Scharf-Norton Center for Constitutional Litigation."
"This is a ticking time bomb for the people of Maricopa County," Bolick said. "Not only are people not arrested in these cases, no one is looking for them."

Suffice to say: the real malfeasance is the criminal unwillingness of the 'powers-to-be' to really crack down on illegals and their enablers-----------then maybe Sheriff Joe would have the manpower/funding to truly 'jack' our American criminals.

Wow, this guy is incredible. This ONE man has single handedly scared off so many illegal immigrants (unfortunately, they go to California afterwards).
