He was a high-profile mayor and he said his relationships would always draw attention. So when he began seeing a man who didn’t have legal status in the country, he knew there would always be some worry.

“To live with the uncertainty that at any moment he could be deported, I can’t live with that,” Lown said.

So he decided to focus on his personal life.

Lown, who resigned Tuesday as mayor of San Angelo after six years, spent about 30 minutes Thursday answering questions from the media through a conference call. Lown spoke from a hotel in Mexico, where he moved with his partner, whom he has not identified, while they wait for him to get a visa so they can move back to the U.S. legally.

He's deliberately keeping the identity of his illegal alien boyfriend a secret so that he will be eligible to re-enter the US. They're together in mexico, if he loves him that much he should stay his sorry butt in mexico with him.

I can't wait to read the story of how the lover he can't live without left him after gaining US citizenship. At least "he" can't get pregnant otherwise he'd have an anchor by now.

Yeah but if he were straight he could get married and make his spouse a citizen.

True. The boyfriend might be bi-sexual and hiding it. He may even already have a wife and kids that he plans to "bring out of the shadows" after the love sick fool/former mayor is done "bending over backwards" paying for his citizenship.

Anyone professing to be that love sick and desperate is beyond pathetic. He probably just met the guy a couple of weeks ago and he's given up his entire life for what is probably nothing more than desperation, infatuation and sex. It sounds like his boyfriend is playing him like a deck of cards. He's been in the US illegally for 5 years and never had time to adjust his status? I'm just sayin' . . . . . .

Lown’s partner came to the country illegally five years ago,
Lown said. A confidante later told Lown there could be a legal problem if the person didn’t have a visa.

This has happened extremely close to this senate hearing:

According to the article in about.com:
UAFA Senate Hearing Set For June 3rd

Quote:
The hearing, set for June 3, 2009, is a huge milestone for those who want to eliminate discrimination by giving same-sex partners of American citizens and lawful permanent residents the same rights as heterosexual couples to obtain residency.

As long as they unite them in mexico and wherever else they arrive in the US from illegally, I have no problem with that.

That being said, they certainly don't have a problem leaving their mexican families behind in pursuit of illegally entering the US do they?

Since they have no legal right to be here and they have no problem leaving their so called loved ones behind and acquiring new ones in the US, why should any American be concerned? Specifically, the American government.

If Americans leave our families behind and immigrate illegally to mexico or anywhere else in the world, do you honestly think their governments would give a rats ass about the family members we left behind? The only people who might be concerned would be those in the US who work for the Dept. of Public Aid and the division of child support enforcement.
