NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - A New Bedford leather-goods factory raided in 2007 by immigration agents will close its doors by July 31, the company that owns the plant announced on Friday.
Quote:
In 2007, federal immigration agents raided the plant and arrested 361 undocumented workers.
Quote:
Francesco Insolia, who owned the Michael Bianco Inc. factory at the time of the raid, later was sentenced to 12 months in prison and ordered to pay a $1 million fine after pleading guilty to knowingly hiring and concealing illegal workers.

Mass. factory closed, site of '07 immigration raid (http://www.startribune.com/local/46487822.html - broken link)

If one can't bother to conduct a business on a lawful basis then don't bother conducting a business at all.

Bingo!

We certainly do not need that variety of business on US soil.

I don't see the connection of the '07 immigration raid and the closing of the factory. Was the verdict to pay the $1M and the 12 months of jails just given right now? 2 years later?

If not, then since the owner is in jail for hiring illegals, I would assume they stopped doing so after the raid ( there is nothing on the article to support or refute this argument )

So the company that just closed could not stay solvent after it stopped hiring illegal aliens. That does send a strong message.

And also, the only company that the U.S. Rep. Barney Frankis calling unfit to do business with the government is ATK ( not the one that was hiring illegals ). Because it bought a competitor (Eagle Industries) just to shut it down.

Definitely we don't. These businesses won't hire Americans and do us no good at all. They unfairly compete with honest businesses that will hire Americans because they break the law to get the stoop labor that gets them quick profits.

They can reopen in the foreign country of their choice, hiring their non-American cheap labor.

Just like a couple of meat packing plants that were busted for doing business illegally. I believe one went belly up too.

This company was essentially operating a Criminal enterprise by hiring Illegal Aliens.. and should have been shut down A LONG Time ago!!!

Rep. Barney Frank is a shill for the Chamber of Commerce and was one of the main peddlers of the Federal Bailout for Banks..

Get rid of free trade and illegal immigration, and the USA, may become strong once again.

Leaving either or, is just slowing down the inevitable.

Since the owner of that factory only wanted illegal mexicans to work for him, he should have opened his business in Mexico, not the US.

He deserves what he gets. After he's finished paying and doing time, he should be sent packing to take his business south of our border.

Side note here:

Apparently; there are plenty of jobs to be had SoB, but their wages are crap by US standards.

The wages in the US can sometimes be 4x as much or greater.

I'm pretty certain that it's accurate to claim that many illegals are only doing the jobs that some Americans won't do because of the wages that are provided.
