The economy's downturn has made finding work for day laborers that much more difficult as contractors throughout the borough tighten their belts. NY1's Ruschell Boone filed the following report.
Why wouldn’t you want to help one of the many citizens looking for work, as opposed to giving work to an illegal?
I am not going to ask if the person is a citizen or not. If a U.S. citizen wants to stand there I will hire him too. Everyone gets the same pay. I do not discriminate.

Now, how is that my fault. If I was unemployed and could not find a job i would do everything on my power to get one. Why would it be in appropriate for a U.S. citizen to be a day laborer, so that i could not find any there?

I understand they don't exactly welcome "outsiders."
Uhmm, it's a good time to build a pool, or an add on to your house. It will help this people find work, and you get it done cheap. Everyone wins.
