PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - Fort Lee officials say fewer illegal immigrants are trying to come onto the post to work in construction projects following a two-year enforcement effort.

About a dozen illegal immigrants have been arrested so far this year, compared to nearly 90 in each of the past two years. Col. Joe Metzger of the Fort Lee Provost Marshal's Office says word of the crackdown has gotten out and contractors are no longer taking chances.

Greed. Some people prefer to get right quick by hiring illegals, paying them dirt wages.

If illegals aren't constantly being promised amnesty, easy citizenship and many other big rewards for breaking our laws, many will tire of being illegal and decide it's time to go home. Reunify with their families back home and living a good wholesome legal life.
