Gustavo Rodriguez, 29, is dying. He's also an unauthorized immigrant and his doctor said his immigration status might be his death sentence. Rodriguez doesn't speak English and his family will tell you up front that he is not a citizen of the U.S. His wife, daughter and three stepchildren are citizens. Before he became ill, he brought home the family's only paycheck. "It's really hard for him because he used to work really, really hard," said Mindy Rodriguez. Doctors said Gustavo's brain is pressing on his spine and he can't feel his left side. They said without surgery he'll become completely paralyzed and die. Family said Rodriquez needs a surgery he can't get in Mexico and he can't afford here."It's definitely a problem where surgery to prevent progressive paralysis or death is better early than late," said Mindy Rodriguez. Iowa law extends emergency care to unauthorized immigrants. There is only one doctor in Iowa who can perform the surgery, but the University of Iowa Hospitals said they don't consider Gustavo's condition an emergency yet. "Basically they're waiting until he's halfway dead before they help him," said Mindy Rodriguez. Waiting may put him in a wheel chair for life.

While I feel sorry for Gustavo, he is not America's problem. Big mouthed Mindy needs to contact one of the gazillions of mexican consulates in the US and ask them to help her foot the bill for the treatment of her criminal husband if they want the surgery performed in the US. Promptly thereafter, they all need to be deported back to mexico.

I am so sick and tired of illegal aliens, their problems, delusional arrogance and demands.

This is family and person needs our prayers instead of hate.

Please find where I stated that I hate any of the members of this illegal alien family? There really is a VAST difference between hate and reality.

Please refrain from twisting my words to suit your new world order agenda.

Here we go again. If they provide treatment and he dies, his wife, with the help of MALDEF and the ACLU, will file a malpractice suit against the hospital and doctor. They will accuse the hospital of contributing to his death by delaying treatment. Let him return to Mexico, and seek treatment there. It’s BS that hospitals in Mexico can’t perform the surgery. U.S. citizens can’t receive free surgery, so why should an illegal? This entire illegal alien situation is totally out of control.

You are missing the point is not about illegals or legals is about some ones life that matters more then his status.

That is my description of the wife and as far as I'm concerned she like the majority of arrogant, demanding illegal aliens need to show a little humility as opposed to demanding that which they cannot afford nor are they entitled to.

As I stated in my rebuttal "I feel sorry for Gustavo", but again, he like millions of other criminal squatters draining this country dry are mexico's problems, not the American taxpayers'.

We are already providing “free” care to illegals to the tune of billions of dollars per year. Furthermore, a hospital in Florida was sued by the family of an illegal after providing over $2 million in unpaid treatment. We are not the healthcare system for the world.

Maybe the Mexican Government should assist their citizens more with their medical care..

Illegal Aliens and their care is NOT U.S. citizens' responsibility..

Many U.S. citizens have to make difficult choices each and every day and many U.S. Citizens die everyday because they can't afford the care or treatment, and/or can't afford to remain on life support..

Why should Illegal Aliens be entitiled to receive more than U.S. Citizens? It sounds as though you believe that the lives of Illegal Aliens are more important than that of U.S. Citizens..
