The newest research from the Pew Hispanic Center, released this spring, suggests that the immigration system in the United States is going to be nearly impossible to fix. This is an important realization; with a weak economy and high unemployment rates, few leaders are enthusiastic about tackling the complex problems that undocumented immigrants face. Immigration reform has stalled in Congress since 2005, and extremist rhetoric on both sides of the debate has only exacerbated the stalemate.
While Pew reports that the number of illegal immigrants has slowed to a trickle, there are now nearly 12 million illegal immigrants in the country. The undocumented population's issues go far beyond residency status. These individuals have lower incomes, are less educated, and have poorer health than the typical American.
I've always stated that people can donate extra money to either the Govt or a Church if they want these Illegals here so badly. I prefer the Church method so I don't feel I am being forced to adopt an immigrant involuntarily.

Let Mexico (the source of most illegal aliens) help its poorest peasants; that nation is not dirt poor. Over $14K per capita income in Mx is comparable to some of our rural counties down South as well as the Dakotas, etc.
If Mexico had any intention of helping it's poorest peasants,they would have done so long ago. These poor,uneducated people are a burden on Mexico. That is why they handed out maps for crossing the border and guides for receiving benefits.
They want the U.S. to take care of them....

What should have happened was that someone should have had the brains to see that the best thing would have been to help these people make it in their own country, teach them responsibility, help them delay childbearing and finish an education. Imagine if Mexico would have done everything it could to encourage parents keeping their children in school and even promoted the idea of having no more children than they could feed and support.
I think that some short sighted types in the Mexican government figured it was a great plan to send millions of Mexico's citizens out of their country to go farm dollars in the USA to send back to Mexico. They saw that as a win-win, not only would Mexico be rid of them, it would exploit them for remittance money as long as possible. Of course many stop sending remittances but no problem, there are millions more where they came from who could also be encouraged to leave.

It's easy to say that because it is true.. The illegal aliens had choices.. They could have worked and studied hard to become LEGAL U.S. citizens and take the proper channels to come into this country OR They could have worked hard and protested in the streets to improve conditions in THEIR own country..
The Mexican government needs to do a better job at taking care of it's own people obviously since there had been such a massive migration into the U.S. (illegally).. Instead of protesting in "May Day" Marches and clogging up traffic in the U.S., they should be doing this in Mexico.. I'm tired of illegals and their supporters talking about how "racist" Americans are, when the fact is that American Citizens have been more than generous in the welcoming of Immigrants into the U.S... and American Citizens are the ones providing "the jobs that Americans won't do" and paying the taxes for the social programs that many illegal aliens take advantage of.. If these folks don't appreciate the efforts of "racist" American citizens, maybe that should be EVEN more determination to work harder to make their country a better place to live..

Furthermore, The people that employ the Illegal Aliens, the churches and the bleeding hearts that want them in the U.S. should also be working harder to improve conditions in Mexico, maybe visit Mexico and build a hospital or a school.. Maybe create some construction jobs in Mexico, etc..

"Not everyone helps in the same way".. Nice argument to justify their entering the U.S. Illegally and using fake or stolen SSN's to work "under the table" rather than go through the legal channels to rebuild their countries.. This is like someone justifying someone that robs houses to feed their heroin addiction, "Not everyone deals with life the same way"..
