At a recent news conference with Hispanic leaders touting the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court, Senator Reid (D-Nevada) said he wants to take up "comprehensive immigration reform" this year -- which immigration enforcement proponents say essentially means amnesty for those who are already in the country illegally. The majority leader said passing immigration reform is "going to happen this session -- but I want it this year, if at all possible."

Does anybody know when this old treasonous fart is up for re-election?

With the economy and the unemployment in the shape they are in...this is going to be a tough sell to the American people.
If he does somehow get this pushed through,I suspect it will be a watered down version of whatever his original proposal will be....It will be a "bi-partisan effort" designed to placate "The Race","Maldeaf" and "Lulackeys" .
If it is much more than that.....
Standby !!!

Reid actually used the term "undocumented Americans" for illegal aliens in one of his speeches on the Senate floor. I kid you not. How can Arizonans elect someone like this?

He's going to add a few more voters with his yap but alienate the voter base. Most people are sick of tax money being tossed at people that circumvented out immigration system. Which, btw isn't broken one bit. If we need temp workers fine, we don't need to add more than the half a million Americans per year. Dems would love to add 12 million instant voters but he forgot about the Unions. The Unions want nothing to do with this.

Still, Mehlman fully expects Reid will try to get amnesty on the agenda and get it passed.

Thank you for the note.
Even people from FAIR expect Comprehesive Immigration Reform by the end of the year.

While I agree that the Dems would benefit the most from Amnesty, I also remember tha this CIR bs was pushed heavily during Shrubs two terms. It seems to me that both parties have something to gain.
This continuing drive for Amnesty is nothing more than "Business as usual"
