Most liberals regard illegal aliens as “Undocumented Democrats” and a veritable gold mine of opportunity for holding on to political power by coddling to those here unlawfully.
But there is a notable exception: A U.S. Senator who has shown remarkable wisdom, foresight, and clarity, especially for a Democrat.
His office released the following statements (in bold) concerning illegal immigration:
“Currently, an alien living illegally in the United States often pays no taxes but receives unemployment, welfare, free medical care, and other federal benefits.”
The senator said the U.S. open door policy is being abused at the expense of honest, working citizens.
The senator continued:
“Our borders have overflowed with illegal immigrants placing tremendous burdens on our criminal justice system, schools and social programs. The Immigration and Naturalization Service needs the ability to step up enforcement. Our federal wallet is stretched to the limit by illegal aliens getting welfare, food stamps, medical care, and other benefits often without paying any taxes.”
“Safeguards like welfare and free medical care are in place to boost Americans in need of short-term assistance. These programs were not meant to entice freeloaders and scam artists from around the world. Even worse, Americans have seen heinous crimes committed by individuals who are here illegally.”
What sort of a Democrat would take such a politically incorrect--but morally and legally correct--stance?
Harry Reid: Against illegal immigration, before he was for it!
Well Harry said that before the current career Democratic politician's strategy of trying to engineer a permanent Democratic majority to keep the far left in power was formulated. Currently, the career Democratic politician's strategy is to blatantly hispander at every turn to help ensure that the mostly illegal mexican scabs are solidly in the Democratic voter camp, if an amnesty can be brought about. And now, of course, Harry, being mostly interested in getting himself reelected, is all too happy to follow the Democratic strategy and hispander with the best of them.
Well, it's probably natural that "Harry", from his childhood with a hard-drinking father in a tough mining camp with "13 brothels and no churches" (Searchlight, Nevada), would be adept at 'switching sides' when it seemed expedient to do so. Searchlight sounds like good training for a life in Washington, and of course we ALL know how the folks THERE are willing to 'stick by their principles'.
I hadn't been aware of Harry's one-time anti-illegal stance...but it seems to fit in with the 'profession' he's in (the SECOND-oldest profession).
I find little difference between a politician and a member of the "worlds oldest profession"....except that a politician gets paid better for "servicing" people....
