WASHINGTON - U.S. immigration agents soon will get expanded powers to fight Mexican drug cartels, Attorney General Eric Holder told Congress on Wednesday.
Under a new deal aimed at settling a long-running turf dispute with the Drug Enforcement Administration, more agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement would get authority to investigate drug cases.
This is awesome, now they can focus on the dangerous criminals. The article doesn't say but do you know if they are getting more resources in order to fight drug cartels?
I think it's great that some of the resources of the ICE are going to focus on fighting drug cartels.
Yes, bigger and lethal. They certainly can’t fight drug cartels unless they have arsenals to compete against their assault weapons. This is going to be very interesting.
A good prospect about all this, is the possibility of the two agencies investigating one another for signs of corruption at the borders.
