Are you suggesting to seize the assets of employers and landlords also? Just want you to clarify because it isn't entirely clear by your post if you meant just to seize assets of illegals or everyone involved. And if not, how would you punish landlords and employers who knowingly do business with illegals? Also, who are these enablers and facilitators you are talking about? Be specific if you can so I can better understand your position and/or potential proposal?

I would have no problem seizing the assets of an employer/landlord who knowingly hires/rents to illegal aliens.

Needless to say: if said illegal passes an E-Verify check..........the above people would be off the hook in all fairness.

Most Americans wouldn't be too upset if the government seizes the assets of these crooks. The government needs money -- and what better place to get it?

These crooks discriminate against Americans, they break every labor law on the books. Most won't provide health insurance, they don't benefit Americans by providing jobs for Americans. They underbid honest businesses that do hire Americans and put Americans out of work.

Many of the landlords are nothing but slumlords who don't mind filling up a cheap apartment or home with 4 or 5 families and have 25 people sleeping on the floor of a dump with poor plumbing and electrical wiring.

There was a trailer park here where the trailers were all old, run-down, and unsafe where the plumbing amounted to a small overfilling septic tank and leaking sewer lines with sewage pooling under the trailers. Small children were found playing in these "ponds".

It's all nothing but greed that motivates these people.

Default Enough is enough!!!!

With the upcoming 2010 census, this will be a good opportunity for our government to step up to the plate and start doing their job. And I mean real work.

Los Angeles is becoming so over populated that is disgusting having to ride the metro transit when just trying to save money due to this recession.

Los Angeles has a high volume of non-registered vendors in every corner of the city that realistically are putting the health of patrons at risk, and the financial costs to the city's budget is terrifying when patrons have to end up in the emergency room due to food poisoning, etc. Unfortunately, this vendors are not being accountable for the damage that they cause by sicken individuals who are just hungry.

And finally, City Hall has to do an thorough inventory of all the businesses that are paying taxes and conduct a thorough investigation of those who hire illegal aliens. And you will be surprise how many jobs will be available if that happens.

The topic of illegal immigration by our legislators is blah, blah, and more blah.

If an american would commit a criminal act, believe me that law enforcement would be knocking at our doors and we'd be in jail just like that! Thanks to the computer technology that our names can easily be accessed.

The 64 thousand question is: HOW COME WE AS AMERICANS DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW WHO IS IN OUR COUNTRY?

All we need to do is do like Canada. If an alien wants to work he MUST have a workers permit. NO exceptions. If you hire an alien without the proper permit YOU GO TO JAIL....it works there and it could work here IF OUR GOV_CO wanted to .

All we need is to require that any alien who wants to work(and all of them do) have a valid workers permit. They must apply for the permit and it lets them work AT ONE JOB . Anyone caught paying am illegal goes to jail if the alien does not have his permit.. this system works in canada .
