PACULA, Mexico
Not long ago, this remote mountain town was in the middle of a construction boom as families proudly built their American-style dream homes using cash sent by relatives working in the United States.

Work on those houses has stopped, leaving shiny steel rebar jutting awkwardly from concrete walls across this town of 4,500. Residents have been forced to cut back on staples such as rice and corn. Eggs, meat and milk are now out of reach for many families.
As relatives in U.S. lose work, rural Mexicans see lifeline lost

More proof that stricter enforcement of our southern border as well as going after the illegals here is starting to bite down.

Maybe this will be the impetus for the poor Mexicans to demand that their dysfunctional government to start helping.

As I have stated in the past: Mexico is not poor with a per capita income of ca. $14K a year-------------the same as Argentina.

It's time for the people of Mexico to hold their government accountable.. Mexico needs to do a better job at providing more opportunity and attracting more jobs for it's people..

It's absolutely disgusting to see these city officials talk about how U.S. remittances is the source of income for their cities and towns but clearly don't want to take action to make things better for THEIR own citizens..
