I think I have seen more cases of "I.D. Solicitation" than "I.D. Theft" for people who has family here for which e-verify is useless.
The number of cases of ID theft is still significant as are the associated costs.

As I have stated before and which the article touches; verifying by other means like finger printing or retina scan is the long term solution. In the short term if an American is STUPID enough to loan out his ID the no match letters will start and if after he is issued a new Social it continues that STUPID AMERICAN will be talking to a fraud investigator and or dealing with a hefty jail sentence.
