Nearly two-out-of-three California voters (64%) say illegal immigrants put a significant strain on the state budget as lawmakers struggle to close a $26 billion deficit.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of California voters shows that just 25% say illegal immigrants are not a major strain on the state budget. Eleven percent (11%) are not sure.

In addition, I'm hoping that these feelings will remain in order to help gain votes for that taxpayer's protection act.

Considering that CA is such a Blue state, it sure takes them a long time to realize the costs to them. So goes academia.

..I'm not impressed, even though I live in California. After all, what do 64% of voters know about anything? More importantly, who cares? If 64% of voters were against drunk driving, does that neccessarily make it WRONG?....Who CARES what the voters want? Who do these 'voters' think they ARE, anyway?....

That is actually the brutal truth.

Politicians lie to get into office, and then you think they are going to be a savor of the people.

There are a few good apples, amongst barrels of rotten, waste.

the people cant meet their needs so they apply for welfare
shifts the costs of employment from the company to the taxpayer.

Maybe Californians are starting to wake up. Hopefully their votes will reflect it.

That will be the key.....How we vote here in the once "Golden State"

Let's see how many of the scumbag career politicians are returned to office after the next election cycle.

Let's see how serious we here in California are about this problem.

And remember..."as california goes......."

If history is any indication, ...........

This is also a reflection of how economic fear causes those to scapegoat the weakest in society. Proposition 187 is a perfect example. 1994 was a time of economic trouble for CA. Here is analysis of the economic situation of CA in 1994. THE CALIFORNIA ECONOMY. California was hit much harder during the recession of the early 1990s than compared to the national average.

It could be the numbers are more indicative of a population in the grip of fear, than one propelled by disdain.

It could be the numbers are more indicative of a population that realizes it's paying out much more for illegal aliens than they contribute.

Illegal Aliens taking jobs and stealing social services are annoying to people that are working making good money. Illegal Aliens taking jobs and stealing social services are THREATENING to people out of work, who have lost their house and are about out of unemployment.
