While this informal employment system seems to have worked for years with few problems, day laborers no longer feel welcome at the plaza, where "no trespassing" signs have been posted recently and police have been asked to start enforcing trespassing laws.
As Lewisville turns day laborers away from Huffines Plaza, immigrants defend right to seek work | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Breaking News for Dallas-Fort Worth | Dallas Morning News (http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/DN-daylabor_26met.ART0.Central.Edition1.4bc95ad.html - broken link)

All it takes is some effort and part of the problem can be solved.

It's alright to be homeless and beg for change in America, but it is wrong to try and work for it?

I guess you are missing the point they should not be here AT ALL!

All these illegal immigrants need to be drived back to where they came from so Americans can have jobs.

And yet the criminals can't do it legally in their own country?

Where does it say they are illegal? First thing I read is this:

Quote:
Gabriel Cuevas has been a Texas resident for 38 years and lives in Lewisville. He and other day laborers are now looking for work at a convenience store near Huffines Plaza.

Again where does it say they are illegal? You altered the title of the real story and put the word "Illegal" in this thread, that's a misleading injection.

I think the following quote from the article best sums up some of my feelings:
Quote:
"If they're legal and they want to find employment, an employment agency is a great place," Ueckert said

Fine, but there is no need to alter a title of a story to make it appear to enforce your point of view.

Is there a law stating day laborers must use an agency?

Please.

It's common, whether intentionally or unintentionally, to use the word "immigrant" as a blanket term to include both legals and illegals.

The truth is that the vast majority of day laborers are illegal aliens.

The overwhelming majority of US-born citizens don't need to loiter in a certain area to look for work.
