Interesting article. We always seem to blame illegal immigrants for America's disgrace but no one talks about going after the companies that employ them.
When was the last time anti-illegals went out on a hunger strike to avoid eating vegetables and fruits picked by illegal immigrants?
Nope, that was protesting against unfair labor practices and violations of labor laws. I actually participated in it. May Cesar Chavez rest in peace.
Then did you oppose the growers bringing in illegals to break the strike of the UFW or the Teamsters protecting the illegals brought in as scabs? What about Cesar Chavez's group doing wet patrols? They did you know.

Illegal immigration still has much to do with unfair labor practices and violations of labor laws. It is mainly about having unlimited cheap labor when employers bring in and hire illegals.
Well, in our group, there were many illegal immigrants that participated in the protest along with Cesar Chavez. Cesar Chavez was very much aware of this.
My question is..again: Since the illegal immigrant march in 2006, when have anti-illegals gone on a hunger strike to protest those illegal immigrants that pick the crops? So much hostility toward those working so hard to get the harvest in time and so you can get it at a cheaper rate, fresh and ready to eat at your dinner table.
anybody and any business government office church bank that has gardening and janitor service subcontracts, trust me illegals make up the staff after 60 days of contract.
its the emporers new clothes, 21 million people came here to work many were recruited by american biz, the government somehow did not see them walk in.
america has become a docile giant. i fear when we decide to resist it will be too late.
if we cant stop an invading army of unarmed could we really stopped one armed?

Fewer than 500,000 illegals work in agriculture as there are fewer than 2 million total jobs in agriculture and certainly not all agricultural workers are illegals.
Most of our food is harvested by machines and much of our food is imported. Illegals may comprise up to 25% of fewer than 2 million jobs, agricultural visas are unlimited after all. Many farm workers actually are here on green cards.

The question is not how agricultural jobs are available. The fact of the matter is that many illegal immigrants are employeed in agriculture. The question again is: would Americans do a strike against these companies?
