Dh just returned from AZ and during a visit to the ASU campus noticed an abundant amount of signs nearly everywhere on the campus which said "Support the Dream Act". When he asked about it, he was told the dream act supports allowing children of illegals who were left in their home country to immigrate to the US legallly to join their parent(s).

Is this the case? What do you know about this (aside from this huge brainwashing type push on universities)?

We must have known about this during our yrs in SoCal - but have both blanked on it having prioritized other issues in new england

What do you all know about this Dream Act? And are there universities out there which do not subscribe to this insanity?

No, that's BS. The point of the DREAM Act is to legalize those students who were brought to the US illegally by their (also) illegal parents who snuck in to the US from other countries, so they can attend schools beyond high school. It has nothing to do with kids left behind in the home countries.

And it's going to be the final nail in the coffin of the US economy if it ever gets anywhere.

Well, that's a bit of hyperbole... but, yeah... I was in FL when this whole thing started there. Some illegal aliens got caught by INS and their son happened to be a very popular high school senior (I think maybe valedictorian or something)... he came here when he was a baby so he had to go home... his fellow students and the Cuban legislators started this crusade to pass a bill that would exempt people who came as children and made it through high school or something like that... yeah, I understand that it's not the kid's fault but the way around that is to all for a quick processing of their student visa when they go back home. Incentivizing families to bring young kids and hide out for as long as possible is not the answer.

Let's not forget we tax payers footed the bill for his education which was far better (most likely) than he would have received at home.

My "Dream" Act is that the illegal parents get sent back to Mexico to join their kids that they left behind.
