One has to sympathize with this person. It's not right that a native of the US should ever be deported. I remind you, though, that for every American citizen wrongfully deported, there are tens of thousands of people who SHOULD be deported, who, for various reasons, aren't. So I guess the balance still favors the illegals way, WAY over the legals.

“Individuals who misrepresent their true identity and make false statements to ICE officers create problems both for law enforcement and themselves,” ICE spokesman Ivan Ortiz-Delgado said in a written statement.

Lyttle swore to immigration agents on two occasions that he was Mexican, but he also swore that he was a U.S. citizen born in Rowan County. His Homeland Security file does not reflect any attempt by ICE officials to confirm Lyttle's citizenship claims.

From the above article.

He suffered from a learning disability as well...That means that they should have gone off the PAPERS that ICE found at the time of deportation.

"At the time of Mark Lyttle's deportation, immigration officials had criminal record checks that said he was a U.S. citizen. They had his Social Security number and the names of his parents. " (Source: CharlotteObserver 8/30/2009)

A learning disability may render a person to not be able to fully express themselves.

It seems that you are trying to justify this...

It is clearly unfortunate but in light of the fact we have so many illegals, it is not unexpected. If we had a grip on the illegals issue this might not have happened.

So it's better to use our money to make people's miserable instead of finding solutions that would actually make our society better?

Our money should not be used to help the illegals in anyway. This should not even be an issue, our money should go back to help citizens that need it. I am really tired of the apologists of illegals not seeing that. But I suspect the apologists hold about as much respect for their fellow citizens as the illegals do, which is none.

If it's not about illegals, then why was it posted on the 'Illegal immigration' forum? Somebody goofed, it appears....
