I agree almost totally, but I feel that you have listed reasons why we should end chain migration and start putting these types you have listed back at the top of the LEGAL immigrants list. Not reasons we should be ok with their illegal entry. They should, no doubt, have preference. The issue of assimilation is HUGE to me. Our culture is what has allowed this country to prosper. The third world is..well..the third world.
This country is run by fools and ideologues. Our legal immigration system was changed to the present system by democraic politicians because the US was becoming too Republican. Importing poverty and the chain migration of 3rd worlders more likely to be democratic voters illustrates my point. The US needs to go to a merit system in which prospective immigrants are chosen based on skills that the immigrants possess that would be benificial to the US, that would make the US a better country, not for any reasons that the prospective immigrants want. Most 1st world immigrants would have priority in such a system. These are the people that could make the US great again. Bye bye poverty reject 3rd world future democratic voters.

The damage has been done: if here illegally; I want them all gone-------Canadian or not. Illegals as a group are pure trouble since they have already thumbed their noses at our laws.

Because the mere presence of any illegals (even 'high quality' ones) is a slap in the face of the USA----------and, tacitly encourages others to try to hop the border. Think of the camel (illegal aliens) with his nose under the tent (USA sovereignty).

LOL! Well said. Personally I have a hate/love relationship with Canada right now. And, OMG you guys are soooo right about Canadians shockingly strange obsession with donuts! Especially Tim Hortons. Didn't an Ameriacan company buy them out a few years ago?
