Yes, we have unisured citizens and healthcare reform does need to be addressed so that all AMERICANS have health insurance.

As well as establish a basic care for ALL persons within our borders.
Let's provide basic care to anyone within our borders, what a great idea! Anyone who manages to sneak into the US or overstays a visa is entitled to 'basic care' under your plan. Define 'basic care' for starters. Suppose the hordes of illegal aliens who will come to the US because they are entitled to 'basic care' don't have any money to pay for it? Or to buy insurance. Who is going to pay for it then? Once they are here, what if they need more than 'basic care'? Are you going to send them home? Or provide them with what ever level of medical care they need and expect American citizens to pick up the tab?

Basic care is not defined. However, as a matter of public health, if somebody has something highly contagious...we should help treat it. Again public health. If somebody got into a serious accident, we should have the resources to aid that person. This would by my definintion of basic care. Well, seeing how we spend more per capita on health, yet have some of the lowest levels of care in the industrialized world...I think we can find a way.

Understand that I never truly defined basic care. Please don't make the assumption I did.

That's actually a common idea. Look at Mexico - if an American breaks the laws of Mexico, the American can be punished. Most countries don't make immigration a free-for-all like it's done in the USA.

No it's a horrible message that we can't solve problems in an effective, modern manner. That we have to round people up for working and providing for their families? This sounds archaic. It really doesn't make sense.

Who cares? The surest way to destroy the US system of benefits, including healthcare, is to allow in large numbers of illegal immigrants from poor, oppressive, dissolute and corruption -ridden societies where the rule of the road is to grab anything and everything you can get your hands on.

Hardly, we are rounding up criminals using stolen documents and identify theft on top of the original crime of being here Illegally. What doesn't make sense is that we continue to let them cross.

They aren't monkeys. "Rule of the road is to grab anything and everything you can get your hands on" That's really not even close to being true. Frankly, it's really ethnocentrist.

The surest way to destroy US benefits is to fall into a trap of smoke and mirrors as to place more blame on others than they deserve. Illegal immigrants are not the problem facing healthcare, health insurance companies are. You can join several grassroots organizations that support you ideas on illegal immigrants, whose funding comes from health insurance companies...Corporate interests devising ways to stay afloat by placing blame on the poor.
