Apparently, they have forgotten what God said about lying and stealing. Oh, I keep forgetting. . . illegal aliens are the lone exception to the Ten Commandments. Such hypocrites!

Quote:
WASHINGTON — The National Association of Evangelicals on Thursday endorsed comprehensive immigration reform, saying new policies should reflect "biblical grace to the stranger."

Anderson said the NAE board adopted the resolution as growing numbers of immigrants fill the pews of churches affiliated with his organization, which includes 40 denominations and scores of other evangelical groups.

The resolution, approved overwhelmingly by voice vote of the NAE board, calls for the government to safeguard national borders, recognize the importance of family reunification and establish an "equitable process toward earned legal status for currently undocumented immigrants."

He said it demonstrates that the issue is one that concerns not solely Latinos but a wide range of Americans, and represents a "Christian" rather than a political agenda.

"At the end of the day, immigration reform is an issue of justice firmly grounded on biblical truth," he said.

I applaud them for finally breaking with partisan ideology, but not sure I trust that their motivations are pure.

Growing numbers of immigrants in pews mean growing bank accounts for churches. Why would they want to send them home?

Evangelicals endorse immigration reform - USATODAY.com
Maybe they just don't see things black and white like you do concerning this issue.

Give us your tired, your poor, sick, criminals, your mentally ill, and WE, the Evangelicals will house, feed, babysit, sponsor, and pay for their expenses out of the kindness in our hearts. We will NEVER take one red cent from anyone for this endeavour, because god will shower gold bars from the heavens. Amen and Amen.

These are usually the same people who howl about abortion but then call the struggling single mothers of young children who use food stamps or WIC "welfare queens." I do not see them stepping up to the plate and helping these women whose reproductive choices they want to dictate.

I would not take their opinion seriously.

Maybe the Evangelicals are compassionate Christians just trying their best to do God’s will.

What would Jesus think about each of you based solely on your posts in this thread?

He would agree that law breakers should be held accountable for their sins. That isn't a humanitarian issue.

Oh, so that must have been what He meant when he said, "Let he among you who has not sinned cast the first stone" (paraphrasing). Thanks for clearing that up. (roll eyes)

If I sin or break the law I expect to be held accountable for it also. I am no hypocrite!

Here is another biblical quote for you from the 10 Commandments:

Quote:
TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'
In other words, if something does not belong to you, you need to keep your hands off it.
