Target's "Illegal Alien" Costume Causes Outrage (Mexico, Spanish, racism)

I'm surprised Wal-Mart dumped them. They are usually great at sticking to their guns and only pulling items if their customers object, not special interests groups.

I'd say it's because of the volume of sales they do to Illegals in the border areas. They stood to lose some sales if they didn't pull them.

Martians aren't humans. That's all the costume is a space creature. "Alien" doesn't necessarily mean a human, it means foreign. The costume doesn't look at all like a Mexican so it's a little hard to see the outrage.

One can't help but believe that there will now be those individuals who decide to take this further and combine a jump suit with illegal alien written on the front and back of it with a green card and of course the rubber mask of a Mexican looking peon instead of a martian mask. (because the vast majority of illegal alien invaders are from Mexico) They could go as former inmates of sheriff Joe. It might be big.
