LOS ANGELES-- An immigrant rights group has asked Target stores to stop selling an illegal alien costume they describe as "offensive" to immigrants and "ignorant."

Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, says she emailed Target Headquarters on Friday, calling the costume "distasteful, mean-spirited, and ignorant of social stigmas and current debate on immigration reform."

Some customers say they will refuse to shop at Target Stores until the costume is removed from the site and an apology is issued. Others call the costume "funny" and say the offended parties should "lighten up."

"This has nothing to do with immigrants," another customer wrote, "Only the illegal criminals from Mars that entered the US without doing it the correct way."

Why would any law abiding American be offended? Afterall illegal aliens aren't immigrants and shouldn't be here anyway.

Toys R Us is still selling the costume. Don’t they also sell costumes of bank robbers and other criminals?

I was thinking the same thing myself, Benicar. I imagine there is a costume for everything these days.

I saw a picture of a costume of "Octomom" complete with big lips.

Another site is still advertising, but this message appears: Sorry, this item is Sold Out! http://www.meijer.com/catalog/produc...LAID=386597327

I'm gonna protest Target until they put them back up for sale. How come I can still get an American Indian costume?

Yeah! I'm part native American. My ancestors didn't wear the clothing shown in those "Indian costumes". I'm offended. Get them off the shelves. I know some witches and they don't look anything like the witches costume. Some are pretty hot! I'm offended. Get them off the shelves. Get a life and a sense of humor. That costume is frigging funny. That's OK. I'm sure the local crafts store or Spencer's gifts will have an alien mask. Just wear an orange jumpsuit or shirt with the words "Illegal Alien" painted on and carry a "green card" and you'll be the life of the party so long as you don't go to a mexican restaurant that actually employs mexicans.
