Another ridiculous comparison of illegal aliens to slaves.

Quote:
Civil rights groups said they are opposed to proposed legislation that would require illegal immigrants to identify themselves as such in the 2010 census.

By law, the Census Bureau cannot share or reveal information about individuals. The proposed amendment would change that.

Wade Henderson, president of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, said the amendment is unconstitutional. He compared it to the pre-Civil War three-fifths compromise that made slaves equal to three-fifths of one person.

The Senate is expected to vote in the coming weeks on the amendment, which is part of the Commerce-Justice-State appropriations bill for 2010.

Find it absolutely appalling that this alleged civil rights leader, Wade Henderson and his ilk would compare illegal aliens that CHOSE to come to the U.S. and utilize taxpayer funded programs to African slaves that were stolen from their home country to be bought and sold in the U.S..

"Civil Rights leader" and this guy are an oxymoron.. by making a statement such as this he is trivializing slavery (as do many of the Pro-Illegals that compare the "struggles" of Illegals Aliens to the Holocaust)..

from the article:

Gloria Montaño Greene said she is concerned that the amendment would suppress the rate of Latino response to the census.
Um yeah no doubt.

Why would this suppress the rate of Latino “citizens” responding to the census? Furthermore, they have already stated that the info will remain confidential.

Saying that they will keep the info confidential does not mean they will do it.

It will definately suppress the Latino vote and in turn cause the general census population to be invalid.

Furthermore, what is the whole point of couting illegals if they do not matter, as you all have said. Arent people here saying that it is "citizens that should be counted"?

At this point, no matter what people do, they will not count themselves in...that be spanish forms, door to door, no check box for illegal immigrants, etc...they will not participate.

<<By law, the Census Bureau cannot share or reveal information about individuals. The proposed amendment would change that.>>

How so? There is a lot of information on a census that is private. That's why it isn't made public for 72 years.
