Seriously, how can anyone possibly justify this? According to both federal immigration and employment laws, illegal aliens are unauthorized to either live or work in this country. Yet, they are being offered job training as though they have a legal presence – all courtesy of U.S. taxpayers.

Note the back peddling by the director now that this practice has been exposed.

Quote:
A plan that would include illegal aliens among the “priority” groups in need of job training in Passaic County has caused a stir in the race for county freeholder seats.

Michael Marotta, one of three Republican candidates, on Thursday criticized a draft plan by the Passaic County Workforce Investment Board (WIB) that lists “undocumented immigrants” as one of six groups most in need of federally funded job training. The others priority groups listed are low-income youths, welfare recipients, the disabled, former offenders, and non-English speaking immigrants.

The Passaic County WIB has received more than $5 million this year from the federal government for job training.

“While Passaic County must certainly work to meet the needs of its large immigrant population, we must be careful not to afford priority to illegal aliens if doing so would violate the relevant provisions of federal law,” Way wrote. She advised that work begin on “revised language.”

When I saw the above article, I assumed it was an isolated incident, until I saw this. . . .

Harris’ 4-year-old project gives an alternative to prison for small-time drug dealers between 18 and 30 years old with no record of violence and no more than 7 grams of drugs when arrested.

The problem is that Back on Track has apparently been used to train illegal immigrants for U.S. jobs they can never legally hold, along with erase their criminal records. The program came under fire when an illegal immigrant named Alexander Izaguirre was arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault in July 2008 while still participating in the program.

With the construction industry slowdown, immigrant laborers are spending some time homing their skills so that when the market rebounds, they can earn better wages, according to the Washington Post. So far, so good. ASTRACOR in conjunction with local labor unions and some undisclosed local government bodies, which is providing this job skills training with funding from the Commonwealth of Virginia, doesn’t seem to be taking any steps to ensure that illegal aliens don’t receive this training, which may be a violation of Virginia Code Section 63.2-503.1. Taxpayer funds simply cannot be used by state or local government to provide benefits to illegal aliens.
