Default Illegal Immigration May Threaten Health Vote: Congressional Hispanic Caucus Pressures Obama to Include Illegal Aliens

The plot thickens. . .

Quote:
The illegal immigration issue is emerging as the biggest threat to passing healthcare reform in the House.

Congressional Hispanics have threatened to vote against the bill because of a last-minute threat from within the Democratic Caucus to bolster the House bill’s immigration restrictions to match those included in the Senate Finance bill.

And they’re also fighting President Barack Obama, the original sponsor of the language prohibiting illegal immigrants from accessing the public health insurance exchange.

Should that occur, members of the CHC have said they will vote against the rule. Assuming all Republicans vote no, a revolt of any more than 37 Democrats would torpedo the legislation. The CHC has 27 members.

It appears the CHC will get what they want. Despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of citizens do NOT want illegals included.

You can watch the debate now on C-Span.

Quote:
President Barack Obama, working hard to prove he is not “A Liar”, has been quietly pressing the House of Representatives to ensure illegal aliens ARE NOT in the healthcare bill. Pelosi and her crew are turning a deaf ear to the President it seems, placing greater value on the twenty votes in the Hispanic Caucus than on the reputation of their fearless leader.

Representative Louise Slaughter (D-NY) indicated she is giving the Caucus what it wants. In the bill, supposedly on schedule for a vote Saturday in the House, Slaughter says it will contain provisions allowing illegal aliens to participate in the healthcare exchange and does not require verification to keep illegal aliens out of other parts of the healthcare system.

Of course hispanics are fighting for this. Hispanics have worked hard in the U.S just to get some oppurtunity that they dont have in Mexico. Especially that many are payed less than the minimum wage and work hard and dont get insurance. America was made on immigrants. No one should have restrictions to anything. Especially now a days we need hardworking people who want to work in America. Our biggest mistake is that are wanting to kick them out.

What do you mean hispanics are fighting for this? Hispanic citizens will not be excluded from the healthcare bill. Illegals certainly should be regardless of ethnicity. They are their own country's responsibility and we shouldn't have to subsidize them for anything since they aren't even supposed to be here. They work hard for their own economic gain. So what? Americans do that also. Yes, Americans was built with the help of immigrant labor but that has nothing to do with illegal aliens. Two different groups! "No one should have restrictions on anything"? Does that include all countries or just the USA?

We already have hardworking people in America. They are called U.S. citizens. It is no mistake to expect our immigration laws to be respected and deporting those who don't.

No one is arguing that Hispanics should NOT receive the same health insurance as any other American citizen..

The issue is criminals that entered the country ILLEGALLY.. Many illegals are paid less than minimum wage because they CHOSE to enter the U.S. illegally and NOT go through the proper channels to become citizens as millions of Immigrants do each and every year..

We have millions of American people and LEGAL immigrants that are unemployed that WANT to work hard in America but are unable to in many cases because Illegal Aliens are holding down jobs and depressing the wages in their respective industries..
