Dream turns nightmare Arrests of immigrants rattle Milford

By Maria Sacchetti
Boston Globe Staff / December 29, 2007

"MILFORD - Daniel Tacuri made a name for himself in this town.

With only a first-grade education, he slipped across the border illegally and eventually started his own roofing business, often hiring immigrants like himself from poor villages in Ecuador. He was raised in a dirt-floor cabin, but in Milford he owned a home worth more than $350,000 off Main Street, along with a small fleet of four vans, a truck, and a jeep."

Authorities say Tacuri built his business by exploiting illegal immigrants, including one as young as 13. At its peak, they said, he had 80 employees, some of whom rented rooms in his house. A few workers told authorities that Tacuri did not withhold taxes or pay them overtime."

Not surprising, Ozark-Baby

It's a piece of cake to make the big bucks if you "forget" to pay taxes and benefits while ignoring all the local and federal labor laws and paying sub-standard wages to Illegals who are also often on welfare.

But Bummer, they are the poor downtrodden people you know. They are honest and upright people except for coming here illegally. That is what we keep being told you know and this is just more proof that they tell LIES.

They don't like Americans but they don't seem to like each other much either.
It surprises me the way they treat their illegal brethren. This guy sounds like a pimp with a bunch of prostitutes.

Someone on this forum yesterday claimed "BS" on my assertion that immigrants (legal or non) are in prime position to exploit and perpetuate illegal immigration from their native lands.

I hope this clears some things up.

This whole house of cards is about to come crashing down. The construction industry is going to get real ugly in the next year or two.

Not only should he go to prison for a very long time, he should have all his assets seized.

I also wonder just how many honest American businessmen were driven out of business because they couldn't compete with this guy due to the illegal aliens he hired.
