DEA Data on Race...Tell me that Mexicans are not Criminals now (interstate, website)

I got on the DEA Most Wanted web-site today and just looked at all the criminals being sought.

I took the state of Georgia and broke it down. The funny thing is that allot of Mexican born criminals have "White" marked for race. The total # of individuals being sought out of the Atlanta Field division is 94 individuals.

So that is 61 total Hispanics if you count the Hispanics who have white marked as their race even though they were born in Mexico. If you count the one Columbian that also has white marked you have a grand total of 62 individuals out of 94 total. If you add all the other foreign born individuals that brings the total to 71. If you subtract the unknown races from the total amount of individuals wanted you then have 87 individuals wanted by the DEA. This means that in the Atlanta Field Division they are looking for 71 foreign born individuals and only 16 American born individuals.

I would have to say that immigration is GRAND!!! If you look at other states, most Hispanics have white marked as their race. I would like to know who is marking it white and why. If its the DEA I would like to know why they are marking white for someone whose race is obviously not white. If the criminal is allowed to mark white, I would like to know why the DEA or the arresting officer allows it.

The DEA is the federal drug enforcement agency. Their main focus is working against trafficking into the U.S., as well as interstate trafficking and large scale manufacturing, -it is VERY well known that this is dominated by foreign born criminals!! Georgia is also part of a major trafficking rout coming up through Florida from Latin America.

It is not reflective in any way, however, of serious crime in the U.S. as a whole, not Even all drug crime (aside from mere possession). Only a tiny fraction of serious offenders ever become "most wanted" fugitives. Foreign born Mexicans Who think they are wanted by the law are likely to flee to Mexico, which often tries to protect them. So it almost goes without saying that they would be far more likely to become "most wanted" than other serious offenders. I am not in anyway downplaying the importance of this matter, -it is a very serious issue.

The federal prison population is about one third foreign born, if I recall correctly (most are drug offenders), but in most states that have statistics on citizenship of inmates, non citizens are actually well UNDER represented in their state held inmate populations. I believe someone recently provided a link to federal government estimates of the percent non citizens in the total U.S. prison population and it was only 4.5% -I will try to find out about that and post it myself.

And there is PLENTY of racism, against both Blacks AND Hispanics among both law enforcement and the criminal "justice" system in the U.S. this is something I have studied plenty, and I do not care to debate it.

Yes, they DO also have higher overall crime rates than whites, mostly because they are poorer, on average, and becuase of high overall levels of social marginality. (And no I do not think poverty excuses crime, but it is correlated with much higher crime rates in the U.S. within urban (not rural) settings, including among whites.) There are plenty of good and bad people in every group, and most people have both good and bad in them as well!!!!


-I have looked at most wanted sites throughout the country (not just drugs), BTW, and while "Hispanics" are certainly overrepresented, Blacks are more so. -And there are still a LOT of "Anglo" fugitives as well. Most of the wanted people I have seen were not "Hispanic". It depends in large part what jurisdiction and part of the country you go to, -it varies WIDELY across the country.

The D.E.A. clearly has a problem with mislabeling many Hispanics as simply "White", though of course a white person can also be Hispanic. -From what I understand, most county sheriffs are the same way, though most state governments in states with large Hispanic populations are now pretty good about this.

Before the 1980 census, most Hispanics were simply classified as "white" in the U.S. census as well. On the F.B.I. website, fugitives are often listed as "white (Hispanic)".

I should point out that many of the "Hispanic" fugitives on that list actually had POB (place of birth) listed as "unknown". And at least one was born in the U.S. (I did not read the whole list.).

I have complex views. Reality is complex, it is not black and white. That is why I prefer holistic thinking.

I think "for it or against it" is ridiculous. I am most definitely not FOR illegal immigration, -but nor do I hate the illegal immigrants as people. I believe they are also victims in this whole affair. What they are doing is wrong (and dose victimize others), yes, but people who are mistreated are in general more likely to commit crime. This dose not make it OK, they need to be held accountable, but more so, so do their employers.

And two wrongs NEVER make a right.

This problem is a symptom of much bigger problems in this society and the world as a whole.

Simplistic thinking and one sided solutions for complex problems will get us no where. It is what will destroy this country if we let it.

Clodog, -I did not once site the Pew Hispanic center site on this thread. Elsewhere, I have. I have cited other sources as well.

The Pew Center is not "Consistently" pro Hispanic. I would agree they are somewhat biased on the whole, but so are most other organizations, -on the left or right. Just becuase you don't agree with the conclusions of an organization, dose not mean they are anymore "biased", nor that they have any more of an agenda than a source you agree with. We ALL have agendas.

The research I have sited from them was I believe quite professionally done and had little bias. I would not quote just anything from them becuase I believe they HAVE done some sloppy work at times.

I think much of the "information" I have seen from people who think like you on this thread has been extremely questionable and much of it I know to be flat out false. And I have provided evidence of this, which has been largely ignored. Enough said.
