Intended for citizens? You should re-read the article Mr. Scrooge. The toys are intended for children—any children, not just the children of impoverished U.S. citizens. The charity does not take into account whether the children's partent are citizens or illegal aliens.
Quote:
“We're happy that everyone will be treated fairly and that the true spirit of Christmas has prevailed and children will just be treated as children, not as aliens or anything like that,” Espinosa said.
Perhaps you need to re-read the article. Mr. Espinosa is NOT a member of the Salvation Army.
How is it that a kid can make the Houston Police and Salvation Army in Houston change their stance? Seems to me Cesar Espinosa is very organized and influential.
Quote:
Cesar Espinosa, a Houston immigrant advocate who has organized protests against the program, said the announcement Friday “shows the fruit of the labor we've been doing for the past year or so, in terms of getting HPD not to sign onto 287(g).” “To us, it's only a confirmation of the fact that HPD and Mayor White have retracted their willingness to participate in the flawed 287(g) program,” Espinosa said.
He is a kid, who wants the dream act passed: Immigration Columnist: Cesar Espinosa | El Gato (http://uhelgato.com/about/cesar-espinosa/ - broken link).
Maybe that city really doesn't want to participate in these anti-illegal enforcement/deterrent activities at all, to be so easily persuaded by a young man.

Unfortunately, someone has to enforce our laws, since the government refuses. We can’t simply ignore this problem. Many, including the Salvation Army, are so afraid of being accused of “racism” vis-a-vis illegal immigration that they will acquiesce to any demand.
It is my understanding they have always required some proof from recipients. Otherwise, they have no way to determine if the children are actually needy, or avoid giving multiple toys to one child. As with so many other established laws and policies, they have changed their requirements to placate the “immigrant” advocacy groups. Sadly, it’s now a free-for-all.

That's not Salvation nor the local Police departments job. Why would businesses, non-for profits and even local Police want to take the risk of creating anger directed at them when they don't have to?
And you are ignoring the problem, right there in your first sentence:
"Unfortunately, someone has to enforce our laws, since the government refuses" That's a cop out, and it shows that you have given up on really changing this problem and are now willing to nit pick little things like salvation army handing out toys to illegal children.
Again you folks keep wanting make everything uncomfortable for the illegal individuals, yet you do not spend any effort on attacking the companies, banks and governments that make it entirely too easy for them to stay.
No wonder you sit here day after day, for years, saying the same thing with no progress.

Guess you are just ignoring the many posts by the anti-illegals in here about how we feel about the corrupt companies, banks and our goverment that is catering to illegal aliens then? Is it selective reading on your part?

Au contraire, I am VERY active in fighting illegal immigration; as are many others posting on this forum. If I had a dime for every letter I have sent to corporations suspected of hiring illegals, I would be a very wealthy woman. Furthermore, I have contacted every member of Congress on numerous occasions; as well as, President Obama.
Unfortunately, there are too many pro-illegal organizations and high-powered special interest groups lining the pockets of our so-called representatives. It’s hard to compete. They aren’t listening. Therefore, we must remove them from office.
I feel equal disdain for our corrupt government, pro-amnesty lobbyists, and illegal aliens. There have been threads posted attacking employers of illegals. However, those articles are not as plentiful as illegal aliens. Why don’t you post one for discussion?
The solution is not to embrace illegal immigration. The solution is to enforce our laws. Yes, I want illegals to feel very uncomfortable in this country.

Life needs to be made a living hell for criminals (especially for crimes that would put an American in federal prison) so what is the problem?

You making an illegals life a living hell will not change laws nor will it halt illegals from entering. This is where you spin your wheels AZBear et al.

That is what needs to be done on the national level then they would stop coming here.

It doesn't appear to be going your way.
Seems to me, you don't get it.
