Why are you so obsessed with “Spanish-Americans?” I didn’t realize Spain is the country of origin for the majority of illegal aliens. Wow! Are they swimming across the Atlantic, hijacking planes, or are they stowaways? That’s quite a feat. I thought the majority of illegals are Mexican, or from other countries SOB. Who knew? I guess since the majority of U.S. citizens speak English, we are not Americans, we are British.

In any case, a Supreme Court Justice should be impartial. She certainly shouldn’t change legal terminology to benefit foreign invaders, the majority whom share her language or ethnicity. Should we applaud her for future decisions based solely on ethnic solidarity? What would you think of Clarence Thomas if he changed the terminology in his written decisions to benefit black criminals?

I expect the selection process to be based on qualifications, not race or ethnicity. Of course, an ethnocentric would think otherwise.

My God: that would be comparable to American Blacks (even the mulatto descendents who were sired by their old slave masters) self identifying as White English Americans-----------and, belligerently so if reminded of their actual heritage.

Well, well those who objected to Sotomayer's appointment were right all along. She is a racist, ethnocentric and just proved herself so. Is she also going to come up with a new term to describe the white male judges she shares the bench with now since she thinks she is better and smarter than them?

illegal alien = illegal immigrant = undocumented immigrant = undocumented alien.

permanent resident = resident alien

It makes absolutely no difference, and neither does the fact that any person chooses to use one word over another. If you don't like it, go complain to the thesaurus people and maybe they'll start complaining to the dictionary people to start changing the definitions of the words to appease you, but meanwhile please quit creating a stir about it.
