Who wants to bet “undocumented” will later be replaced by something even more PC?
Quote:
In an apparent first for the U.S. Supreme Court, the term "undocumented immigrant" is now part of the legal lexicon for the nation's highest court. Justice Sonia Sotomayor used the term, along with "undocumented worker" in an opinion on the case Mohawk Industries, Inc. vs. Carpenter.
There's an interesting mention in a New York Times article which says a legal database search showed it was the first time the Supreme Court used "undocumented immigrant" in an opinion, though it has used "illegal immigrant" in a dozen decisions.
Justice Sotomayor's choice of words is being hailed by immigrant advocates.
Johnson writes that "the choice of terminology -- aliens, illegal aliens, illegal immigrants, undocumented immigrants, people -- matters in the discourse over immigration. Consequently, by employing a more neutral term, Justice Sotomayor has added significantly to the Supreme Court's dialogue on immigration, which is likely to be with us for the foreseeable future."
Who cares, it's a synonym...just a choice of words preference. It's like if a cop pulls you over and says "I'm going to give you a citation for speeding" instead of saying "I'm going to give you a speeding ticket." It's the exact same thing. There is no reason you need to post this and start spewing your crap about how she's pro-illegal because she refuses to use the word "illegal immigrant" and blah blah blah. That's total crap.

It may make illegal aliens and their supporters feel better to use euphemisms, but it is at the very least disingenuous to refer to these lawbreakers as “undocumented.” We call a thief a thief; we don’t call them “unauthorized borrowers.”
Furthermore, I will post as many articles pertaining to illegal immigration as I choose. If it annoys you, don’t open the thread.

In the legal world choice of words is everything.
Sort of like saying an uninvited guest instead of intruder.
Interesting.......but not surprising. She made herself very clear in the past with regards to her views on illegal er, undocumented immigrants. Or is it workers? Perhaps Tinman is on to something and she will refer to them as uninvited guests next. Maybe drop ins?
Anything but the truth.

Absolutely! As a Supreme Court Justice, she has set a precedent. If this is an example of blind justice, we are in serious trouble. Clearly, she is biased, and her decision leaves no doubt where her loyalties lie.
If you want to know how they are going to act in office, just look at their past record.
It is like buying something and having all kinds of problems with what you bought. Through a little research, you find you bought something with a lot of problems. Now your stuck with it.
Instead of doing the research before the purchase and saving you a ton of money, and less headaches.

those are both synonyms as well, in the end it makes no difference which term a person uses, it is referring to the same thing and anybody who understands the English language understands this.

If it makes no difference, why to you object to the use of "illegal alien"?
