That would be a waste of resources...

Being invaded is a bigger waste of resources------------better to stop the cancer at the source. If it winds up killing Mexico.........oh well.

Who said anything about fighting Mexico? I said we need to protect our country here (our borders ) as well as from abroad. That doesn't necessarily mean having a conflict nor do I condone it unless absolutely necessary.

Pro-logic if you will. I feel that the ridiculous statements on this board need to be tempered out.

Militarizing the border that we share with Mexico could be considered an escalation. It has the high potential to leading to more problems.

For anyone interested National Geography Channel is focusing a series on the subject beginning 01/10/2010.

Border Wars | National Geographic Channel (http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/border-wars/all/Overview - broken link)

It will likely be P.C. but take it for what it is worth. I suspect it will open a few eyes to the conditions our Border Patrol face.

1500 people a day crossing is equivalent to a batallion in the military. No way in war time would we allow this to happen.

In war or not it's hurting the US and using the military to stop it should be an option. We have no idea who is coming across our border.

Mexico has essentially declared war on us by their citizens violating our borders en masse on a daily basis. Putting the military on our border is justified. I don't condone violence however unless it is absolutely necessary. As you said, the danger of criminals, drug cartels and terrorists entering are also of great concern.

They aren't soldiers.

The vast majority of terrorists have not come from sneaking in, but rather by legal means. The underwear bomber obtained a VISA.
