Several Arizona religious leaders on Friday invoked Scripture in calling on President Obama and Congress to pass humane immigration reform based on principles of fairness, family unity and due process.

A recent Zogby poll suggested that religious leaders are often at odds with their members over the issue of immigration reform. Commissioned by the Center for Immigration Studies, a think tank in Washington, D.C., that favors less immigration, the poll said 64 percent of Catholics and Protestants favor cracking down on illegal immigrants, compared with 23 percent of Catholics and 24 percent of Protestants who support a legalization program for undocumented immigrants.
It is big business but there must be more to it. I think they can appear to be very charitable knowing that it's the taxpayers that must provide the free health care, the free public schools, the food stamps and WIC and so much more. The churches just figure on doing the temporary charity to get the illegals over and house them until they get get them on the government welfare rolls.
Plus don't the churches now get some money reward from the government for "faith based" charity, that little scam that Bush set up for them?
It’s big business, and they need more tithes and offerings.
I agree, it is all about filling the pews and with mainstream America becoming more secular, many churches seem to be looking to illegals to keep their doors open. On top of that I would not be surprised if many of these churches were pushing Amnesty, in part, to get more insta-voters to further their social/political goals.
