I'm not at all suggesting that illegal immigrants are good and should stay here but I think it's amazing that people think we can just make them all suddenly leave and expect the country to be better off. The consequences on our already soft economy would be disastrous and any sensible economist would agree with me.
We would be better off in the long run and that is what I have often stated. There would be no disaster to our economy since millions of Americans are unemployed right now and would take those jobs that the illegals vacate. They in turn would be paying all kinds of taxes into our system and buying homes. We cannot continue on this road of uncontrolled population growth due to illegal immigration and I have a problem with amnesting 4 times the number we did in 1986 when we were promised that was the last one. We don't even know how many of these "immigrants" are actually needed here and I think it unfair to those waiting to do it the right way to remain here. It will just encourage a future bigger problem down the road. We just have to say that enough is enough right now and get back to being a nation of laws and demanding that our immigration laws be respected. Short term losses (if any) will turn into long term gains.

This is what I've been thinking...we're already here (in a devastation state) so let's rebuild the right way as well as stop the drain on our resources by getting rid of illegal aliens.
This is the point I am trying to make. If said "owner" of this home is getting hundreds of dollars per illegal alien in an overcrowded house, (which seems to be the typical scenario according to Mina, the illegal alien I spoke with, that she was complaining about) they are making thier mortgages and then some, maybe even have paid off thier mortgage. So they will have to stop gaining an obscene amount on a rented house by accepting a reasonable amount from a one family unit, and scale down thier own inflated lifestyle.
Wow. Someone did some math 3 years ago using the then 20 million figure and just in a few areas:
What If 20 Million Illegal Aliens Left the USA?
Tina Griego, journalist for the Denver Rocky Mountain
News wrote a column titled, "Mexican visitor's lament" -- 10/25/07.
She interviewed Mexican journalist Evangelina Hernandez
while visiting Denver last week. Hernandez said,
"They (illegal aliens) pay rent, buy groceries, buy
clothes...what happens to your country if 20 million
people go away?"
That's a good question it deserves an answer. Over 80
percent of Americans demand secured borders and illegal
migration stopped. But what would happen
if all 20 million or more vacated America? The answers
may surprise you!
In California, if 3.5 million illegal aliens moved back
to Mexico, it would leave an extra $10.2 billion to spend on
overloaded school systems, bankrupted hospitals
and overrun prisons. It would leave highways cleaner,
safer and less congested.
Everyone could understand one another as English became
the dominant language again.
In Colorado, 500,000 illegal migrants, plus their
300,000 kids and grand-kids would move back "home,"
mostly to Mexico. That would save Coloradans an
estimated $2 billion (other experts say $7 billion)
annually in taxes that pay for schooling, medical,
social-services and incarceration costs. It means 12,000
gang members would vanish out of Denver alone. Colorado
would save more than $20 million in prison costs, and the terror
that those 7,300 alien criminals set upon local citizens. Denver
Officer Don Young and hundreds of Colorado victims would not
have suffered death, accidents, rapes and other crimes by illegals.
Denver Public Schools would not suffer a 67 percent drop out/flunk
out rate via thousands of illegal alien students speaking 41
different languages. At least 200,000 vehicles would vanish from our
gridlocked cities in Colorado. Denver's four percent unemployment
rate would vanish as our working poor would gain
jobs at a living wage.
In Florida, 1.5 million illegals would return the Sunshine State back to
America the rule of law and English.
In Chicago, Illinois, 2.1 million illegals would free up hospitals,
schools, prisons and highways for a safer, cleaner and more
crime-free experience.
20 million illegal aliens returned "home" --
If 20 million illegal aliens returned "home," the U.S.
economy would return to the rule of law. Employers would
hire legal American citizens at a living wage.

And that right there is just the tip of the iceberg. But a wonderful start, nonetheless!
the gangs will be gone, sooo...
the crime rate will decrease
the streets will be cleaner as the day laborers won't be leaving their garbage on the corners
English will be spoken again
schools will no longer be overcrowded and students will do better as they won't have to cater to
non-English speakers
hospitals will stop going bankrupt
property values will increase
electric, sewer and water systems will no longer be over-strained due to too many people living
in each house
I'll say you more then made your points, Good for you.
Wrong! I am old enough to remember when things were cheaper compared to now and there far fewer illegal aliens. Hell; we are discussing only 10 years ago.
And if food prices spike (slightly); oh well............many of us Americans (including myself) can stand to lose a few pounds .
