As a Latina against illegal immigration, I am PROUD to post this here. I know quite a few Latinos who are against illegal immigration. Millions of Latinos don't have their head in the sand about illegal immigration. They fear for the future of this country culturally and economically just like any other white/black/Asian American does. They follow the rules and believe all should do the same. Thank goodness.

"In contrast to the leadership of many ethnic advocacy groups, most members of minority groups think immigration is too high.
Hispanics: 56 percent said it is too high; 7 percent said too low; 14 percent just right.
Asian-Americans: 57 percent said immigration is too high; 5 percent said too low; 18 percent just right.
African-Americans: 68 percent said it is too high; 4 percent said too low; 14 percent just right."

Most members of minority groups feel that there are plenty of Americans available to fill unskilled jobs.
Hispanics: 15 percent said legal immigration should be increased to fill unskilled jobs; 65 percent said there are plenty of Americans available to do unskilled jobs, employers just need to pay more.
Asian-Americans: 19 percent said increase immigration; 65 percent said plenty of Americans are available.
African-Americans: 6 percent said increase immigration; 81 percent said plenty of Americans are available.

When asked to choose between enforcement that would cause illegal immigrants in the country to go home or offering them a pathway to citizenship with conditions, most members of minority groups choose enforcement.
Hispanics: 52 percent support enforcement to encourage illegals to go home; 34 percent support conditional legalization.
Asian-Americans: 57 percent support enforcement; 29 percent support conditional legalization.
African-Americans: 50 percent support enforcement; 30 percent support conditional legalization."

I wonder if the Latinos Uber Alles know about these numbers...

Thanks for posting this,Several self serving Pro-Illegal alien groups try to depict minority groups as a united front for their cause when in fact law abiding Americans of all ethnicities generally oppose Illegal Immigration.Even recent Legal immigrants oppose line jumpers/border crossers also.

Thanks for making it about ethnicity, Ms. Latina.

For many, the immigration issue is about the system, and not race.
Shouldn't you be directing your comments to
African-Americans, who according to your link, are less supportive of enforcement than Hispanics? Are they all pro-Hispanic racists? LOL.

Latino Uber Alles? Jesus Christ. Most normal people don't care about race, or feel like they have to make up and defend themselves for their race. You don't have to dance for anyone, Ms. Latina. You're American(before Latina) and that should be enough.
I would guess the vast majority of Latinos in America don't lose much sleep about any of those numbers. We just go about our lives. Not looking for that pat on the head.

"In contrast to the leadership of many ethnic advocacy groups, most members of minority groups think immigration is too high.
Hispanics: 56 percent said it is too high;

The Actual Zogby poll gave an estimate of 38 million legal and illegal immigarants in the country. If you or Zogby can show a reliable source that has all immigrate population at 38 million. On this very poll, it has numbers of illegal immigrats at 12 million. That would mean there are 26 million legal immigrants in the country. As the poll states, 1.5 million immigrants here per year.

Most members of minority groups feel that there are plenty of Americans available to fill unskilled jobs.
Hispanics: 15 percent said legal immigration should be increased to fill unskilled jobs; 65 percent said there are plenty of Americans available to do unskilled jobs, employers just need to pay more.

from the poll-
Statement A: We need to allow more immigrants into the country to fill these jobs...
What does this statement mean... let New immigrants in, or allow the ones here to fill those jobs. The meaning is not clear and no distiction was attempted to define the question.

A few words left off may change meaning.

From the actual poll-
Question 6
Statement A: Enforcing the law and causing them to return home over time.

what does "over time" mean, and how was the question explained to the tested?

Over time, over months? years? is 20 years over time?

"Over time" would mean to me that they get returned to their homelands as they are discovered.

The US needs to bring all immigration legal or not to a screeching halt . We
have enough people now to overpopulate the country in to a starving third
world **** hole . We do not need to import any more people to do it . nor
can we continue to do so as we will not be able to feed or support the
people we now have if the economy does not recover and grow.
we are doomed to be a third world country very soon . there is no way we can
support more people . Our booming population that is made up mostly of
uneducated people that have a propensity to be criminals is counter
productive and is not producing people that will produce goods like farmers
and production workers and inventors . Gang bangers, murderers , robbers ,
rapers , crack heads etc do not help out the country .

close the borders before we are ruined far before our time . Take note of
Africa , Haiti, Asia , China etc . They have way too many people to support
and they suffer . China being the only prosperous one and that is only the
government due to communism and oppression .

Even if we only allowed smart productive people to come in we will soon be
out of room and out of a way to provide food and services to the " over
population " .

U.S. Birth Rate Hits All-Time Low

Continuing a 12-year decline, the U.S. birth rate has dropped to the lowest level since national data have been available, according to statistics just released by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The rate of births among teenagers also fell to a new record low, continuing a decline that began in 1991.

What over-population?
A declining population isn't a bad thing considering job shortages, natural resources, crowded schools, jails and hospitals.

You forgot to mention this little tidbit from the article. The birthrate only fell from 14.1 in 2001 to 13.9 in the year 2002. So it is leveling off. Besides our birthrates are still nearlly double our deathrates today. Yes, we are still over populated considering our carrying capacity in this country.

Thank you for posting. While we both realize there are many Latinos who oppose illegal immigration, pro-illegals work overtime to paint a different picture.

No, she didn’t make this an issue of race or ethnicity, the peddlers of illegal aliens did. She is merely dispelling the myth.
