The personalities behind some of the nation's top immigrant rights groups describe why comprehensive immigration reform is needed now. New America Media spoke with Angela Kelley of the Center for American Progress, Ali Noorani of the National Immigration Forum, Andrea Black of the Detention Watch Network, Clarissa Martinez of the National Council of La Raza, Frank Sharry of America's Voice and Karen Narasaki of the Asian American Justice Center.

We don't need any immigration reform. We need to enforce tha laws we have on the books right now. I'm so tired of all of these people who feel that they are entitled to come to our country. Why do they feel that we have some obligation to accomodate anyone on the planet who wants a better life? The answer to all the world's issues is NOT to immigrate to the USA.

Rick, not all CIR is about illegal immagration. US immigration law deals with both Legal and illegal immigration. New laws have to be writen to address issues with all types of immigration.

This is true, and in the interim our laws need to be enforced, make the illegals go home, businesses to stop using them so this country can again maintain balance, THEN address our views on legal immigration.

Let’s keep it real. The only reason “immigration reform” is being considered, is to legalize millions of illegal aliens. If not for illegal immigration, no one would even care. There might be a few proposals to streamline the process for legal immigration, or increase/decrease visas, but that would be the crux of it.

There would be no massive protests; and La Raza, MALDEF, Chamber of Commerce, the ACLU et al. would not be involved. None of the legal immigrants I know support this BS. Funny, they don’t feel threatened by ICE, workplace raids, or deportation. I wonder why?

Real Reform should incloud:
1. Any undocumented aliens or those who have over stayed a VISA must leave.
2. Any applicant must have a min of a 2 year college degree.
3. Any applicant must have the means to support themselves for at least 2 years.
4. Any applicant must have a sponcer willing to accept full financial and legal responsibility for the immigrant. That would include making sure they left when they were supposed to.
5. Companies requesting immigrant labor must prove that no or not enough resident skills are available.
6. Automatic deportation if said immigrant commits a crime. Ex. DUI, theft, or tax fraud etc.
Just a few suggestions.

A guest worker program that is held with a bond tied to the employer big enough to make it hurt if the workers decide to over-stay. I have no problem with a seasonal guest worker program but they must leave once their time is up. The next one would be to ensure they cannot, or their kids, access social services. If they have a kid here the home Country goes on the birth cert. That would clause out the fraud loophole of the 14th.

They are tourists or workers, not Americans by touching the soil at birth.

Benicar, the real purpose of CIR is to make chages in the day to day mundane business of US immigration. Many people only asociate CIR with amnesty legieslation, their is some stand alone legislation dealing does deal with pathway to amnesty...but the bulk of CIR is the rules dealing with all aspects of Immigration; Visas, Everify, Guest Worker, New Border Patrol rules and regs...tons of regular stuff.

Good, let's take a look at the regular stuff and drop amnesty off the agenda.

La Raza means "The Race"..not all races, one and I see them as being the latino KKK, as racists as they come. Watching real videos, listening to their interviews, I have no doubt it is their primary purpose to take over America.

Go onto you tube, search and you would not believe how many are promoting and priming the young latino for the "Revolution". They wear berets, bullets around their necks, punch their fists in the air and refer to our government as decrepit white elitists, promoting chicano power and La Raza. WHEN illegal immigration is stopped, I think it should be with the military, THEN we can deal with legal immigration, no reform!!
